In trouble w/ your significant other over Prince?

With all the recent California Prince concerts - the excitement of getting tickets, travel, music playing, time and $$$$$. My significant other has had enough. Anyone else in this predicament?

1 was enough. As much as I love looking at him, 1 show was enough. I was out of town for the Oakland shows, but I saw 1 San Jose show. Learn control, I know how much you love looking and hearing, moderation is the key.

I hate the feeling of knowing he is performing in the area and not being there to witness it. I mean how much longer will he keep this up?

When he failed to show up for the Dallas concert (which would have been my wife's first Prince concert), that pretty much put the kibosh on my flying to LA to see any of the more recent shows.

My wife is coming home early... I was just writing a post about how frugal my Prince-related purchases have been, but I lost my train of thought.

I'm single at the moment, but in the past, I do distinctly recall not getting laid after treating one S.O. to their first screening of Graffiti Bridge. lol

Only when he borrows my car and Prince is on Blast oh yeah, when he comes into the bedroom and shakes his head when he glances at a 14x16 framed & matted picture of Prince in his briefs & leg warmers that hangs on the bedroom wall.

lol my friends have started looking at me like hmm I tried telling them there's a whole website where there are people who have seen more shows than I and some have even come from as far away as Europe...they're not buying it. They're just not into "Prince" like that. bored Now I'll just consider them square and keep any future excursions to myself. lol

I live in Ms and as much as I love Prince the only way I would travel as far off as LA to see him would be if it was supposed to be like his last show or something. The furthest I'll drive is six hours and that is not set in stone. I have seen him three times and would love to again but I work as a nurse full time and am also taking more college classes so I can't just drop everything to go that far off. Plus I have no interest to go to LA. That being said my partner actually hates P now because of me. He liked him when we first got togeter. All the underground stuff, bootleg concerts, and just all the new music P puts out burnt him out.

My friends have accepted most of my peculiar behaviour by now. Including my P love.

Some even went to a concert, just to understand my love. And after that concert they did understand my love for him. lol

However, I still have this one person I would love to convert. cool

She is my neighbour. I lover her deerly. She is a music programmer, so has seen it all the last couple of decades.

The only one she has never seen is Prince. Not even when he performed at the venue she works in Holland. She was in the US with her husband, actually visiting his club to see him perform. However, he was in the club in Holland where she works. confused

I didn't have the money to buy me tickets for the North Sea Jazz Festival, however, I do believe that I will get to see P perform. And I just would love to go there with her. And have her finally see him perform and appreciate his performance abilties.

She just looks at me "you know it's not my thing". Last week we talked about not North Sea Jazz Festival again, and I told her, it's my mission to get you to attend a concert of him. She just laughed "you want to take me over to the dark side".

That is my mission now. To get her over to the purple side lol lol lol

99% of my posts are ironic. Maybe this post sides with the other 1%.

No. My ex was a Prince fan himself and we went to so many concerts together over the years, just the 2 of us or together with other friends. And we even were at the same show last year even though we are no longer together. My current bf doesn't care about Prince at all, but tried to talk me into travelling to Rotterdam to see him there. It took me a long time to convince him that I don't want to go lol. I am pretty sure though that he would not enjoy a Prince show if he should ever go to one with me.
With a very special thank you to Tina: Is hammer already absolute, how much some people verändern...ICH hope is never so I will be! And if, then I hope that I would then have wen in my environment who joins me in the A....

hehe, cool topic!

Well, my significant other has to deal with Prince, but he overall accepts him as the now-other-man in our relationship. At first Prince was my main man, even in our relationship, but now that me and Adrian (the bf) are engaged, Prince has moved to the other-man status. But to me, Prince is still my main man.

One funny story is that while Purple Rain played, I completely stopped our intense foreplay the moment Darling Nicki's opening synths (or whatever instrument the opening notes r biggrin) to watch my then favorite scene.

But my love for Prince has caused arguments in our relationship, such as when new Prince merchadise comes in the mail, I'm all into it and ignoring him. Adrian does gets jealous if I overdo my love for Prince, but he calms, lol. He gets me when he says "Is Prince here now? Is he doing what I'm doing to you now? Who are smiling with? Definitely ain't him. How would that make you feel if I had posters of a woman plastered on my bedroom wall who doesn't even know I exist?" But he's a good one with accepting my obsession and love for Prince with wondering why I'm so into him, asking questions about him and his associates, even watching Prince flicks and listening to his music with me smile he gets that if he wants to b with me, he has 2 b with Prince 2, so Adrian's a keeper

His respects Prince for him and his music, favors Under the Cherry Moon over Purple Rain cuz he feels that's Prince's real side, and loves & personally relates to the Dirty Mind album.

Yes, at 19, I finally saw the Revolution, a legendary band. And I talked to Wendy!!! biggrin In addition to seeing Prince, I have now lived life. Thank you Purple People!!

For all the annoyance my wife has to put up with over Prince, there are certain benefits as well. I don't know the exact night when my son was conceived, but there is a good chance that I was playing Prince music at the time. whistling

Im so glad someone finally made a thread about this, When my fiance and I first met, he asked me, what my occupation was and I said "Being a fulltime Prince fan." he thought it was cute

but it aint cute to him anymore, he refers to me as "my girlfriend formerly known as Layna." He complains im spending to much money buying concert/shows tickets. Ive also caught him trying to sell my Prince merchandise @ garage sells/online. & worst he makes Prince, the source of all our finacial problems. But i dont think its any different than his love for cars.

I'm hoping to meet my second wife at a Prince show (or here, hellllloooo ladies lol lol )

My first definitely had issues with my "fandom" at times. There were times where she destroyed some of my merchandise. Looking back, I was a fool for tolerating that kind of shit. Ah well, live and learn.

Having a partner who loves Prince as much as I do would definitely make things easier.
