lol... sounds like you ain't enjoying that album too much Which tracks do you mean? I've heard once that there should be a song called This Is Your Life, but never read about it. Is it really known to exist? Never have I heard about other tunes that didn't make the album also.

You could consider the extended versions on Rave In2 as outtakes, perhaps.

I made a Rave playlist that combines the best of both . . . the extended versions replace the original ones, Beautiful Strange is added, Strange But True is maintained but Everyday Is A Winding Road is clumsily (iTunes) edited down to remove the Larry G. part at the end. I should just remove the whole thing.

The Eve rap remix of TGRES is worth looking into also.

I suspect "Silicon" was also a Rave outtake as it contains some lyrics from the "TGRES Adam & Eve Remix"

Truly one of his worst tracks ever. I didn't think he could top it for wafe-thin, baseless bravado, but then we got 'There'll Never Be Another Like Me' and I got that familiar stinging taste of bile at the back of my throat all over again.

Are there any songs which would have been better suited on Rave than those who made the final cut?

Rave was one of the last projects where Prince really went all out to look different. Like Purple Rain, Parade and Diamonds & Pearls before, he had a very distinct look (wardrobe, hairstyle, facial hair, etc.) that continued throughout the project. I also think that Rave was the last time Prince (albeit known as at the time) looked like "PRINCE", and looked pretty badass. Afterward, he seemed to have matured a little bit, at least in wardrobe.

After Rave, it was the same tailored suit/pimp hat look for a LONG time. Even Musicology/3121 kept this look going. The last few years have seen Prince relaxing a bit with the tunics and stretch pants, but not a real project-specific "look". I miss that, even though it has nothing to do with the music.

I wouldn't consider those the Rave era . . . Rave was a proper release through a major label, with A-list guest stars. Successful or not, it has a lot more "presence" than the Internet-only stuff.

Chocolate Invasion and Slaughterhouse sound like they were recorded in a day with generic backup singers and that "straight-to-video" feel to them. Some of them are pretty good, but they are not great. I think what makes it worse is that they're all lumped together, whereas sprinkled among proper albums they might have found better homes.

did ani difrance really sing back up on so far so pleased or is that an unfixed error

that was cool when gwen sang this at one of his cali shows .. i really liked it and it stood out and it sounded great .. he has had a few extra spicy moments on this tour thats for sure ..

I know. I soooo want to hear this. I guess it was played over the PA at one of the Paisley Park shows. I wonder if this track was recorded to woo Chuck D to guest on his album, or if this was intended to be the track on Rave Un2 instead of Undisputed.

I think he has lost a lot of edge(or maybe all edge) .
I'd say this is due to his ambition and love of popularity. He tries to please too often and no longer has the nerve to do something playful and adventureous like Around the World or Parade.

Most of this material was recorded in 2000, after Rave's release, for the aborted High and Peace albums. Different projects and also a different sound.
