Cinnamon Girl

I personally love this song. I notice alot of people hardly mention this song at all. I was wondering what other P Fans thought of this song & the video.

I like the basic concept but it always felt a little overproduced and plasticy, especially the chorus. But I feel that way about most of Musicology.

The first thing that threw me off about this (back in 2004) was that there's already a song out there called Cinnamon Girl from Neil Young. It's a pretty unique song title -- unlike something like "Adore", or "Forever In My Life". I still don't know if it was just a coincidence, or if Prince "borrowed" the song title.

That aside, the song is one of the best on Musicology. The only things I don't like are the chorus (seems cheesy compared to the rest of the lyrics) and the upbeat tempo for such a serious track.

It was a little hit in Holland. I like it.

99% of my posts are ironic. Maybe this post sides with the other 1%.

The video is outstanding - easily one of his best.

Cinnamon Girl is a song meant to support and give comfort to boys and girls

of Arab descent experiencing prejudice due to 911. The mucisianships is

fantastic of course, but the message comes through boldly. Prince was

criticized by some for making the video. Still is very applicable to today's

world of pro-AIPAC anti-Arab feelings in this country, i.e., all Palestinians

are terrorists. Prince got it right and his music carried the message

well. yes
