When We Dance Close & Slow

I'm Listening to "Prince" album. I wish he would perform this live or has he? His voice is so soft and hypnotic.

It's funny that this topic was started right after the song was played live last week. Cassandra Wilson was the opening act last Thursday and I think it was the second song she began to play. Out of nowhere Prince walks up from the symbol stage and they sang a duet of the song. I've only ever heard this song live on Purple Rush Vol.3 but the quailty isn't that great. The version last week was awesome, hopefully it will be available someday.

Yes it's a great song, very underrated.

I also like It's Gonna B Lonely - that doesn't get the recognition it deserves either.

In fact, that whole album deserves more credit, especially with Bambi and I Wanna B Your Lover!

...I can't stand this song. Boring and overlong, a dud on the album (not the only one, either...)

Fortunately the good songs on this album are great enough to overcome the bad ones...

She also performed it when they played the IZOD back in December.

When eye go 2 a Prince concert or related event it's all heart up in the house but when eye log onto this site and the miasma of bitchiness is completely overwhelming!

i saw him sing it with cassandra wilson in jersey cool (even though he kinda mumbled most of the words lol). i used to couldn't stand this song, or the prince album for that matter, but it's not that bad ("can you feel my love touching you..." hah!)

For all time I am with you, you are with me.

Yep...i don't know why it doesn't get the attention it deserves, I think its because it was more falsetto-y and romantic and was before Dirty Mind which introduced Prince's more naughty persona which attracted a lot of attention.

IMO outside of "With You", the Prince album is flawless. Sure it might not be as musically cutting edge, daring or whatever pretentious label you have for his more praised work, but that doesn't mean it's not fabulous.

It's almost flawless. I admit, "With You" is definitely the filler track.

This album demonstrates the breathiness and vulnerability of Prince's voice and persona. He is able to make you feel the words he is singing even when he's being soft and gentle. He has song some beautiful ballads over the years
