"I don't care if I'm never on the radio again"

...said Prince before he sang the Future Soul Song.

I just watched the last video from L.A. I'm liking this song more and more, especially live!

I don't care if the radio never plays him again (I rarely listen to the radio anyways). As long as I can watch him live - or get a glimpse here and there on the internet - I'm perfectly fine!

And I'm still wondering what he really meant with the 'internet is dead'-thing he said!?

Oh, blue light...

Gohi

Was honestly shocked by that moment. This is certainly a far cry from what he said on 07/07/07:

"Call your radio station, tell them it's okay to play me even though I'm not on a record label! This is the one they missed..."

Well I hope he isn't too wrapped up in the business side of the music business and sees albums as vehicles for radio airplay. Still confused why he is doing 20TEN songs on this tour given nobody in the US is going to know the tracks except people on the org. razz

Lol lol Also heard it, good for him. Radio hits normally last a season anyway. Real music lovers also don't turn to the radio. The only thing I ever listen to, is a jazz station with no commercials and that's only when I'm tired of my own collection, which isn't often.

But he'll have to release the new chocolates via Dr. F then. Kind Prince lol keeping the internet alive. biggrin

I can't tell you the last time I listened to 'the radio'.

I like XM Satellite radio and they play 'older' Prince but, I don't care if he's on the radio or not ...

Most probably when he said this he was suffering from the terrible side effects of chemtrails.

The same side effects that helped him discover lots of presidents prior to Washington, or find out that Lincoln was a racist, or making the world aware of the innernet being dead, or...

P is on the radio, well atleast all his old slow/r&b hits our, but i dont listen 2 the radio much anyway, they play the same 12 songs over & over again. But if P's new music was getting mega radio play, he would most defintley build on that, and be pleased with that success

Again he said he DIDNT care, not that he didnt WANT 2 get his music played on the radio

Honest does anyone on here care, what the radio stations r playing?..... Exactly!!!

Nobody really cares about Prince outside his hardcores. That's why you get the same 'Hits' setlists and dirt cheap tickets to fill seats. He just has to keep this illusion of importance going, but really there's not an ounce of creativity left. he's done. He should retire.

Break out the vault.

Exactly !!! Hardcore or not, if you love the music, you'll get it. Prince should keep doin' what he's doin'. You and I can bear witness to his greatness from his South Carolina show.

thumbs up

Since you appear to be from Holland maybe you've got a real jazz station. Here in the states, if anyone claims they listen to jazz, (ESPECIALLY Prince fans) they're usually referring to total bullshit vamp-oriented smooth jazz like the Weather Channel's 7-day forecast music or Prince's N.E.W.S.

What does this have to do with the rest of the thread? I have no idea. Forgive me.

But that is not going to happen. Honestly, what planet are some of you on. If you are not with a major label you do not get on the radio and an artist P's age has a even harder chance if they do have a record deal.

He is keeping it real and some of you need to try it.

If nobody really cared about him. He would be playing down at your local park for free. As long as people are filling up arenas to see him and paying money ( until these L.A. shows the tickets were really high) he is in demand.

Perhaps you need to retire from paying attention to you if he bores you.

plenty of people care about his music, thats why he sells out anywhere he wants to. Most musical acts play the same hits over and over again to draw the casual fans. You wont see a musical act with several hits selling out arenas and not playing those hits.

He doesnt need to retire, he's still one of the best live performers in the world, his guitar playing has gotten even better. Just because he isnt at his peak doesnt mean he should retire.

Well stop cashing in those royalties cheques then.

Or maybe he doesn't...ah dunno!!!

Fuck the funk - it's time to ditch the worn-out Vegas horns fills, pick up the geee-tar and finally ROCK THE MUTHA-FUCKER!! He hinted at this on Chaos, now it's time to step up and fully DELIVER!!

Well Im not sure why he cares...obviously he does if he said that. Really his fanbase are us....I mean yeah there are still casual fans out there, but the people who are actually going to buy his stuff are us..and I'm really unsure as to why he still thinks the radio cares about his new music..other than KMOJ
