I liked the guitar work on it alot. I hated the way he sang it though. He sounded AWEFUL singing. The Beautiful Ones sounded bad too vocally to me. Maybe it was the set, maybe it was Prince, who knows

Agree with this. Got torn to shreds for even suggesting it.

He's been sounding great in LA, though.

I always consider that song to be one that tests his voice more than most. THe falsetto required to do it right has to be there. I think Prince nailed it

lame studio version

less lame live....but still lame

he needs to just forget about rapping & trying to remain cool once and for all

Prince - not black, not white........just COOL

I love both versions equally. The live version works perfectly live. The studio version works perfectly for album listening. Both are a perfect mix of bounce and rock. Love that song! headbang music

I like the studio version. I felt the live version on the Lopez show was ackward (the background vocals just didn't work), just like the rest of the performance (his voice on "The Beautiful Ones", etc.). It was not horrible, just average.

I actually like the live version better then the studio version (we've talked about this A LOT on the org as of late).

I will say though that I am glad he actually sang a new song!! I wish we could of gotten another in place of the Beautiful Ones. Thats the one thing I wish Prince would do more of is play newer stuff. I tapped out years back on all of the 80s hits. He could pull off a KILLER show if he did 60% newer stuff and 40% older stuff. I miss the old days where he played his new material with the tours.
