So Do Some Of You Still Question Prince Guitar Playing?

I've heard people say Prince can't shred anymore, they said he can't play more longer solos etc...What he did with "Laydown" last night was proabaly his best solo since Montreux "Little Red Corvette" performance.

It's one thing to say Prince's musical output in the last while hasn't been stellar but no one can deny he can play the fuck out of that guitar. If there are people doubting THAT, I question their sanity. lol

I think Prince may be a better guitar player now than he's ever been. That might be because it seems like he's been playing it more than he used to.

No offense, but I think that most of the people on this board don't question ANYTHING Prince can or can't do.

And when he plays it now you can actually hear it. For a very long time Prince let his best guitar playing get lost in the mix. His current stripped-down style really lets the guitar playing stand out. Not that I don't miss all those horns!

the only people who question his guitar skills are usually non fans, and often they are homophobic, because prince is falsely considered "gay". So some "rock" fans are intimidated by the idea of Prince as a great guitarist.

Even as a big fan, i dont think he's top 10, but certainly top 100- and thats amazing for someone who has not dedicated his entire life to the instrument, remember that he plays the piano, bass, keyboards and drums quite well. Its scary to think how good he would be as a guitarist had he dedicated his entire life to it.

Yes, I would question it too. He's an amazing guitar player. I'm sure he will slow down as he gets older and if arthritis sets in that will definitely affect him, but he is as great as ever on the guitar.

lol Why am I not suprised to hear that coming from you?

I am not a rock fan so can't really judge his guitar playing. But Prince's guitar work, which I do tolerate everynow and then is certainly good. Especially last night. I'm so glad he played piano too though.

I have a hard time taking anybody seriously who says with a straight face that Prince isn't in the top 30 in the world on guitar. It's just....no. lol

It's kind of funny some of the "rock" fans would think he's gay because of his image, when alot of rock artist were known for wearing heavy make up and flamboyant clothes.

I've not really heard any negativity about his guitar playing. Certainly not recently. Actually if anything, his stock as a guitar player seems to be rising. Particularly after the George Harrison concert brought his playing to a wider audience.
