Prince and Les Paul i've never seen prince playing a les paul. I would think that he would, considering the fact that he likes go go way down on the fret boart, and with the single cutaway, a les paul would allow him to do it. is a les paul too "chunky/rock" in sound for prince?

actually with the thickness les pauls have i would say its harder to get that high up the neck (or down the fret board as you said). les pauls are also one of the heaviest guitars, so i would think it would be a bit uncomfortbale for a guy princes size. most guitars have that same cutaway on the bottom though. his cloud guitar has as much access to the last frets as a les paul would. even the symbol guitar, even though it has less access to the end of the fretboard, it has more frets than the cloud, so it almost has the same access to the same number of frets.

Also check out the pic of him onstage with The Bangles from 1986. He's playing Vicki's Les Paul Custom.
According to his old guitar tech (Zeke) he owns several Gibson Les Pauls. Didn't he use a Gibson Dove (covered in leopard skin) back in 78/79?

Another thing I noticed about Prince is that he fancies maple necks. I don't think I can recall, outside of the early 78-79 years, him extensively using guitars with rosewood fretboards.
