20Ten 2010-2011 so far

lyrics 2 songs,

photos of Prince,

band members, Misty C. Sheila E. & Bobby Z

shows, set list, rumors and facts

Nevermind the bird feed honey, just tell me your name
You wont have that long if I get my way in this game
My reputation precedes me, call it claim to fame
They know me around the world, you want me just the same

[Chorus:]
Why should you be satisfied with just heaven and earth?
When if you look around there's so much more to the universe
Maybe every shining star, is just another part
If you and I could ever open up our dirty hearts

(Oh! Open up baby. Oh. Hey-hey ...)

Listen

All of us in minerals and chemicals of space
You cary within your womb, that's how we got to this place
This might be a bit serious, but if it turns you on
Come with me now let's get nice till serious is gone

[Chorus]

(Oh! Come on! Oh! Oh. Get nice.)

Love is much to small a word for what you feel for me
If you ever let me explore your anatomy
You and I lost in each other prisoners let free
Come on Darlin' let's get down beginning endlessly

(Uh uh. Let's get down! Uh uh. Beginning endlessly
Uh uh. Let's get down! Whooh!)

Come on! You see that I want ya. Ooh wee!
Come on! Can't you see that I want ya. Feel me now!

History is full of praise for another's history
More and more than the one that became before both u and me
Left alone with our devices, whatever will be will be

A brand new story in the making beginning endlessly

(Oh!)

Love is much to small a word, for what you feel for me
(Feel for me)
If ever you you let me be, let me be your man
Ooh baby! Understand. I wanna I wanna be your man

Pure speculation but:

An album inspired by Controversy may be released this year, (as i believe 20TEN in some way was a homage to Dirty Mind (Everybody Loves Me).

Evidence: One of the official W2A tour photos has P posing looking just like the Controversy cover.

No more promotion of 20TEN as that's done as far as he's concerned - he has 3 other albums ready to go (he said so himself)!!

Maybe a small tour, there are little UK rumours and LA too.

Thats the one! Thanks.

I'm glad he's ackowledging his past, not trying to rewrite it as much now! I'm also glad he's back to the cool clothes and costumes (I really despaired with the 2002 era JW style not doing old songs and wearing suits like a creepy preacher)!

It's cool how he's been looking on tour recently and last summer.

Prince's critically acclaimed "Welcome 2 America Tour" played a sold-out audience at Madison Square Garden on Feb. 7. Grammy Award-winning alternative hip-hop/soul crooner Cee Lo Green served as the opening act, kicking off a punctual 7:30 p.m. start time, which played out well into the midnight hour. Green, who already joined an impressive list of opening guests that included Janelle Monáe, Esperanza Spalding, Maceo Parker, Mint Condition, Sinbad, Lalah Hathaway, Cassandra Wilson, Sharon Jones & the Dap-Kings and Larry Graham, belted out a litany of songs, including a censored version of his chart-topping pop anthem, 'F**k You.'

Meanwhile, his royal majesty, who turns 53 in June, dazzled that audience with a career-spanning set that never seemed to end.

The stage was shaped like Prince's trademark glyph, and it was there that he seemed to hold royal court -- whipping the audience into a fevered frenzy with classics such as 'Controversy,' '1999,' 'When Doves Cry,' 'Purple Rain,' 'Kiss' and 'Sign of the Times.' While the days of yore are long gone -- when he used to do countless splits throughout his concerts -- Prince proved to be an ultimate showman, even taking on ferocious power ballads such as 'The Beautiful Ones,' 'Nothing Compares 2 U' (with background singer Shelby J) and 'Adore.' He teased and titillated with shortened versions of rare faves like 'If I was Your Girlfriend,' 'Pop Life,' 'Raspberry Beret' and Sheila E's 'Love Bizarre.'

Prince knows he’s a bad and his Welcome 2 America tour serves as validation—as if more is needed. The purple one breezed through New Jersey’s Izod Center with his arsenal of hits and b-side classics. Absent from the east coast concert scene since 2004’s Musicology tour, the funk-fest that was W2A was a welcomed apology for those 6 years.

Songstress Cassandra Wilson and legendary musician Maceo Parker served as the shows opening act. Parker, known for his run in James Brown’s band in the 60’s, still blows a mean horn. He blasted through Brown’s signature hits “Make It Funky”, “Funky Good Time” and “Soul Power”. Parker then blew the crowd away with his spot on impression and tribute performance of Ray Charles’ “You Don’t Know Me”. While Maceo went the funk route, Wilson was a smooth delight. Her velvety vocals and warrior woman presence made for a solid set. But things were turned up a notch when Prince surprised her onstage for an unexpected duet. Wilson was visibly taken aback but maintained her composure enough to finish the song.

Through the darkness of the Izod Center the stage illuminated and a well lit outline of Prince’s signature symbol meant it was time for the main event. Through the pandemonium, Prince started the show off with “Let’s Go Crazy”, and the fans did just that. I almost lost my mind when I heard the familiar guitar licks of “Sexy Dancer” off his 1979 debut album, which was cleverly mixed with Chic’s “Le Freak”. Prince went deep in his catalog boasting, “We can be here all night”.

One of the highlights of the night was when legendary Prince protege Sheila E. hit the stage. Looking amazing in a silver sequined tank, black leggings, with black platform stiletto boots; She—alongside her mentor—sent the crowd into a frenzy with a rousing rendition of “Glamorous Life.” Not to be outdone the dynamic duo launched into “Love Bizarre.” Prince served up a second encore with “If I Were Your Girlfriend”, “Insatiable”, “Scandalous”, and the soul stirring “Adore.” Undoubtedly, this show is a must-see.

The last two Welcome 2 America tour dates are Dec. 29 and Jan. 18 at New York’s Madison Square Garden.

Prince Rolls Out Classics at

'Welcome 2 America' Show

By: Troy Michael

The most amazing moment of Friday's (Dec. 17) Prince concert, his second of the "Welcome 2 America" tour, came without neon lights, choreographed dancing or even a Sheila E. drum solo.

After Prince and his backing band wrapped up a five-song encore and deserted the stage, the house lights at East Rutherford, NJ's Izod Center were turned on -- usually, the death knell for a return appearance possibility. As some fans started grabbing their coats and heading toward the exits, more fans stayed in place and kept yelling, pleading for the Purple One to play more.

Sure enough, the players returned to their instruments after a five-minute break, and a visibly delighted Prince once again took the stage, high-fiving fans and giddily stomping his yellow high heels on the black platform beneath him. "They're gonna have to kick us out now," Prince told the crowd, eliciting the loudest cheers of the night and launching into a four-song finale.Prince Welcome 2 America

The impromptu encore capped off a spectacular performance in which Prince did what every audience member wanted him to do: roll out the classics and absolutely murder them. "Let's Go Crazy," "Delirious" and "1999" were an unstoppable opening trio, while "The Beautiful Ones" featured breathtaking choreography between Prince and a ballerina. "Kiss" and "Take Me With U" were unbridled doses of funk, and "Purple Rain" brought the house down with a searing guitar solo.

The uniquely crafted stage show matched the set list, with Prince and his backup singers strutting across a stage shaped like Prince's unpronounceable symbol and the light from multiple disco balls glimmering across the audience. And the top-notch backing musicians only sounded better when a vivacious Sheila E. brought out a pair of snares and pounded through "The Glamorous Life."

Yet none of the theatrical details would have mattered if Prince had not delivered such a masterfully uninhibited performance. At age 52, he still commands the gaze of everyone in attendance with loose -limbed spin moves, expert guitar noodling and sexually charged glances.

In between two costume changes (the highlight: a gold turtleneck with sparkling sequins), Prince was a charming master of ceremonies; at one point, he asked the audience what song he should play next. "Slow down!" he demanded between handclaps during the breakdown of "Little Red Corvette," his small frame shaking in the red light. Prince is still putting on unforgettable shows three decades into his career, and shows no signs of ever slowing down

My only complaint about the December 18th Prince show at Madison Square Garden was how short it felt. It was under two hours. I would have gladly taken three. I thought for sure we'd get a nice chunk of extra songs in the 2nd encore, but instead we only got a nice chunk of extra celebrities. Not that watching Sherri Sheppard of the View, Whoopi Goldberg (also on the View), opener Sinbad, Spike Lee, Spike Lee's son, Jamie Foxx, Naomi Campbell, Alicia Keys, Professor Cornel West, Tavis Smiley, opener Larry Graham (who also had his bass), Questlove (who also drummed) (and whose afro and tweeting were unmissable from where I was sitting before he left his seat to get on stage), Busta Rhymes, John Leguizamo (who I also saw on the will call line when I walked in), Sheila E (who was already up there performing), Prince's amazing band and backup singers and others dancing around on the love symbol-shaped stage wasn't fun, but I would have gladly traded it for a few more songs.

And speaking of Larry Graham whose band Graham Central Station opened, he was very worth getting there early for. Graham was the bass player for Sly & the Family Stone, and he paid that band tribute with a five-song medly that Prince himself came out to play on. For an opener, the energy in the half-packed room was huge.

Sheila E's appearance during Prince's set, especially her performance of her hit song The Glamorous Life was another serious highlight, though unlike as advertised, it wasn't the only show on the "tour" she showed up for. She didn't play at the 12/15 Izod Center show, but she did play during the second of three encores (yes, they got three) at the 12/17 Izod show, and it has been announced she will play with Prince again at MSG tonight (12/29). The full lineup for tonight's show is: 7:30 - Mint Condition, 8:15 - Janelle Monae, 9:00 - PRINCE (w/ Sheila E). UPDATE: She didn't actually play with Prince on 12/29.

If you miss tonight's show, you still have one more chance on 1/18. Tickets are still on sale for that one (no openers have been announced yet though, that I know of). Janelle Monae and Prince were both spotted at Lauryn Hill last night, and will probably collaborate on stage tonight.

Prince's Final Madison Sq...n Concert!

Last night, Prince performed the final show of his "Welcome 2 America tour" at Madison Square Garden. Cee-Lo opened with his hit single "Forget You", he later came back to perform "Crazy" with Prince playing guitar. Prince's guitar play during "Crazy" made the song extra special, great combination!

?uestlove, Chris Rock, and Kim Kardashian were among the celebs who attended the concert. Kim was booted off the stage from Prince after she refused to dance. She literally just stood there. It must be very impressive and maybe intimidating to be in front of Prince, but come on this is a concert just go with it!

Misty Copeland joined Prince during the "Beautiful Ones", her performance was so graceful, elegant, truly mesmerizing. It would be a delight to see her collaborate with him in the future again.

When singing "Nothing Compares To You", Prince dedicated the song to his former drummer from The Revolution, Bobby Z. "A lot of people helped me along the way, Bobby was one of them. Recover soon Bobby."
Prince played so many hits during his concert, what a beautiful way of finishing this tour! "Pop Life", "Mountains", "When Doves Cry," "I Would Die 4 U", "Sign O' the Times", "When U Were Mine" were among the many gems Prince played last night.
