Do you think P's natural home is the UK? Sorry USA but he belongs here!

strange claim I know but he just seems to 'belong' more here than anywhere else. When he's over, there is a good buzz, he always seems happy, he fits in with our rich creative musical heritage + he's allowed to be more free here - the respect he has for our music ledgends is obvious. Likewise the current music/club scene here leads the way far more than the USA [You lot are either Rock , Teenpop or R&B AND no inbetween!!lol]. My Dutch and French friends will try to lay claim to him BUT the UK is where it's at.

Just look at the love and respect during the 02 shows, need I say anymore more. He loves it here and we love him being over. So, my fine Purple friends I put it to you that if he lived here he would be more creative, more free and have a lot more inspiration than anywhere else in the world.

Tell me again what musical form Prince is adept in that the British invented? Jazz...American. Rock and roll...American. Blues...American. Funk...American.

The main reason Prince generates widespread buzz in the UK is that the UK is tiny compared to the US. It's like the buzz he gets in California when he plays in LA.

We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

I don't think the UK is his natural home, he's not here nearly enough. Sure we were spoiled in 2007 but his last tour was 5 years before that and it's been 4 years since. One tour in nearly 10 years does not make a home. He needs to come back.

RIP sad

I always get incredibly excited when i see the two letters U and K appear on here thinking he's coming back! Mother funker!

Anyways as for the statement...I can see where you're coming from and I was lucky enough to be around for the o2 shows and there was an article or gossip column on Prince nearly everyday he was here.....

he seemed to be everywhere in '07 for those couple of weeks:

-Announcement/ Koko

-Bourne premier

-Matthew Williamsons fashion show (Chelsea Rodgers video shoot)

-Clubs and bars where he was supposedly giving advice to young artists

-There was the rumours of the surprise appearance on Big borther which fell through

He has also done a 14(?) date residency with the Nude tour in the past aswell!

I can agree with the size of the UK being smaller etc, but don't find this to be his home but a very well liked second home cool

(Which I can only hope HE WILL VISIT SOMETIME SOON! biggrin )

You're just saying that because you're a fan and you want him as near to you as possible so you get as many concerts as possible lol .

This reminds me of how MJ fan forums used to be years ago - all the fans who weren't American, ranting that the United States hated Michael and that Michael should move overseas...it just so happened that the locations they always recommended, were where they currently lived, themselves.... lol .

I'm English....and we can't lay claim to musical Genres, we just punch above our weight in global music sales.

Prince loves the UK (Holland and France too), but cut him and he bleeds stars and stripes and purple and gold.

Beside the genre ownership argument is circlular...USA created the music, but England and Africa created the USA. Whos zooming who? lol

Does he belong here? I don't think he does.

Would I care if he did come and live here? I don't think I would.

Yeah it's kinda funny how in every city/country Prince plays, the fans there always declare how much happier he seems when he's in their city/country, how much more relaxed he seems, how much more energy he has when he performs there and how it's so very clear that he LOOOOOVES their city/country more than any other, etc etc etc. lol

lol, i don't know myself, truly one of the dumbest threads i've started!, muddled thinking on my part!!. Think my point was that the way he acts / looks / behaves / creates [at his peak] and is respected [especially from say Parade through to Lovesexy] kinda seemed that the U.K. is a natural place for him to be. Think about the career of Jimmi, i.e. no real breaks in the USA but here in the UK he made everyones jaws drops from Lennon and Macartney through to Clapton etc and of course an adoring and welcoming audience. It seems to repeat here, i.e. we love him at his creative best.

I blame these threads on you.

You keep saying Prince shouldn't release a record. He is probably taking your advice.

Now instead of threads about music, we get this. SHAME ON YOU.

Errrrm the Lovesexy show was filmed in Dortmund, which has always been in GERMANY:-)

I believe the director however was Dutch if memory serves correctly, so Kudos on that.

I'm from the UK and have seen Prince a few times here, but I believe his exuberance when he performs makes the audience THINK he loves the town the most wink
