Prince & D'Angelo Aftershow jam?

This was taken from a Right On magazine interview:

RO: What was the experience like meeting Prince?

D’Angelo: He was doing a show at Jones Beach, Long Island. I went to the show. I guess someone told him I was there and he announced that was going to jam later with D’Angelo at Tramps So I grabbed my keyboards and I had my brother with me and Ahmir Thompson of the Roots. Me and him went to Tramps and waited for Prince to get there. We really didn’t talk much. He came in and asked me what I wanted to do. So I picked my favorite song, “The Ballard of Dorothy Parker”. At first he didn’t want to do it, but then I was like “I gotta do that. That’s the one.” We just had to make sure we had te keys straight. That was that really, we didn’t really say much else, until afterwards where we kicked it a little bit. We talked about James Brown and that was it.

Does anyone know if this was an aftershow or private show & has anyone heard this?

That show was on the 23rd July 1997.

Not sure if the aftershow was public or private.... but there is no circulating bootleg, unfortunately.

i thought he did it in an interview , hitting back and both D' and Beck who were using the old 'he isn't as good as h used to be' arguement + suggested he needed a producer !!.

...yeah it was something like that..but in one his fansite songs he mentioned something like "what do you know about the chicken grease?"...

..I think D'angelo said he was feeling some sort of way (not good) after the jam that he and ?uest had wih him back then.
