Transcendence and rebirth at a Prince concert

removing the posts that revealed too much of my soul.

Thx.

I figured you all wouldn't really get it... sad

Sorry

Well I can understand that people might have special experiences, but that they happen at a Prince concert is pretty weird to me. Maybe weird is not the best word, but English is not my first language...

But I am sure you will find fams here on that forum who will totally understand you and who see Prince as some kind of messiah or medium for God or whatever....

I had a life changing experience at the Prince concert on Wednesday 2/23 in Oakland. From what I have researched and my discussion with my (open-minded) therapist, I had a kundalini awakening (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kundalini)... saw God, saw my own narrow, limiting ego and the abritrary rules I live by, and saw Prince, a profoundly shy, honest, deep, open, loving man who is unbelievably strong-- so strong that God flows through him like water flows through a powerful river. The process of the kundalini arising was physically, emotionally, and psychologically frightening, but once I decided to accept the process I saw the infinite love that was within me, and especially, expressed in Prince though his gift of music... so much love and so much God in his music that the brillance and intensity bordered on pain. Once the kundilini had been awoken, I began dancing as though someone else was moving me. And no, I wasn't on acid, though i had smoked one puff of weed.

Anyway, I bring up my story for 2 reasons: the first: has anyone had anything like this occur (especially at a Prince show)? From what I can understand about this, the expression of God through Prince, his energy, the energy of the crowd, and my openness enabled the experience to occur.

The second thing is the prevalence of God (Christianity) and Hinduism throughout Prince's body of work. I think he has always known that God works through him. Almost every song on Purple Rain has a God/or Christ reference... the more recent work (1990s + ) has references to Hinduism (Lotusflow3r). Really I see him as much as a spiritual leader/healer as a complete musical genius (and these two things might not be unrelated, see Elizabeth Gilbert of Eat Pray Love discuss the relationship between genius and God: http://www.ted.com/talks/...enius.html

It should be no surprise that someone who is divinely inspired prioritizes religion, whatever form that religion takes...

I was agnostic before I saw the Wednesday show. I feel that this concert was the greatest gift. How is he able to share so much love and so much divinity with so much openness, and with no fear? Amazing amazing amazing...

falloff

Have you ever been to church in Africa? I lived in Zambia briefly and definitely what I experienced at the show paralleled what I saw (but never experienced) in Lusaka. I think that the relationship between God and music has been intertwined for longer than we can imagine....

Though I will say that this is not an experience I even expected to have in my life, much less at a concert...

I think we all have the capacity to tap into God/channel, but most of us choose not to... But we all can (watch the video I linked to in my original post)

Prince in't the Messiah, I'm not trying to say that... but he vibrates at a VERY high frequency, and if you tap into that frequency, surrender, and vibrate there... the experience is completely transformative and beyond words.

I hope you are able to have this experience, though music, or through anything!

Love.

I have been to Africa, but not to a church there. And I don't see Prince at all like you see him. And I don't think I would even want this experience, but I am one of the people who choose to not to. But thanks for your wishes biggrin .

This post is easy to clown but I understand it oddly. Ive had several.."religious experiences" at certain concets (from different artists not just a prince one). This is why I think so many musicians are truly gifted (and hardworking) but also in some ways part of the divine at times.

I'm familiar with the concept of kundalini, but can't ever profess to have had such an experience, especially at a P. concert.

I'm thinking, sure you only had one toke? stoned

The last time I went to a Prince concert I saw him do amazing things.

He turned water into wine, he multiplied breads and fishes for a whole population, he healed the crippled, cleaned the leppers, there was even one guy who had died and decided to come back to life so as not to miss the concert (I think Lazarus was his name), and just after the piano medley Prince trode over water.

Now, seriously, TOO MUCH LSD on this thread.

Never done LSD, cherie.

....if U set your mind free, baby, maybe U'd understand.

Then don't you ever do it! If you're capable of such a hallucinating rain with just one puff of weed, don't you ever go beyond that, it could be the end of the world.

No wonder you're visiting a therapist...

As for my mind, it's absolutely free. That's why I don't need such a stupid thing as 'a god', whatever you want to call such a mindbug.

I'm not trying to deride your post, but that line is quite funny.
