Has he ever performed this one live? If so, I may've missed it. Man O War is one of those ones I keep going back to.

love almost everything about this song. only complaint would be the slightly metallic sound to it, but i think that's got more to do with the way that album is mastered than the actual production itself.

and the remix completely ruined the whole thing.

One of my favorite songs on the Rave CD. It got a LOT of attention from me! lol

"You need to laydown and let me show you how we do this thing up in funky town. From the heart of Minnesota here come the purple Yoda guaranteed to bring the dirty new sound! Come on, now!"

I agree all the way. That's why I wondered if Prince could rock this one live!

I always think of an old complaint of his when i think Of man o war, "they completely write off my slow jams". true, lots of great songs which people just ignore.

WBLS in NYC played it for a little while when Rave got released. They always find the more R&B flavored tracks off of Prince CD's and give them airplay. Even though most of those songs aren't singles that are being pushed. They did the same for Adore and Another Lonely Christmas.

When eye go 2 a Prince concert or related event it's all heart up in the house but when eye log onto this site and the miasma of bitchiness is completely overwhelming!

Hi there,
Does anyone have the original promo recording of Man O War? I am writing a dissertation about Clare Fischer and his work on pop music such as Prince, and it would be great to hear this original recording and use it for my essay.

Many thanks!

Ed

Brilliant song. A very nice piece of work by the man, the myth, the legend.

"Break the gold chain that I gave you, throw it down on the floor..."

That phrase works well in so many scenarios.

Simply a fantastic tune.

The public is squeezin' you kiddo. You'd better kick ass on your next album or else!

Up there as one of my very favourite tunes of his, especially the remix version. It has a lot sentimental value too.

I picked up the promo CD for $1 at a second hand record store last week. Couldn't believe my luck.
