From the neck up, thumbs up! Going down, she is disgusting. Her arms are too hairy and her legs too muscular for a woman...! Bria at least had a woman's body. In matching pants suits and heels, Misty and Prince would look awesome together though!

You can back up what you say with more opinion? Cool. Not interested in racist opinions. You're SOL.

Nor did I insinuate your opinion was slanted because of it although now I am certain it is. I'm sorry your kids had to grow up in the KKK capital of Michigan, but take your grudge against white people out somewhere else cuz I ain't interested in fielding your fucked up IRL problems in a conversation about Sheila E.

1. I can back up whatever I say with facts...not opinion.

2. Mark of shame? confuse You'll have to explain that one for me.

3. No you didn't insinuate it...you just said it. However, when you asked me...first! I didn't insinuate nor say anything of the sort, did I?

4. Don't be sorry my children grew up where they did because I'm not...in the least bit! I quite deliberately and very purposely made that happen and would do it again!

5. I don't have any grudges against White people, in general. It's the ignorant ones that willfully put their ignorance on full display...that I have a problem with!

Shes hot, some of you are too picky, Prince is 50 plus if he is dating her, go him.

As for all this race talk some of you are way off, "Sheila E aint black shes mexican", mexican is Nationality, Black is a incorrect term to desricbe people who desendent from Africa.

Genetically theres only 3 races, so biracial, triracial are just lamen terms, so you can techincally fit Sheila E in African coloumn. Africans where in S.America before Mayans etc so if you wanna play the Hispanic card or what ever it still goes back to the Olmecs and what not.

To go off topic yes race does matter, who ever doesnt think so needs to pull their head out of the sand. Race classifaction was strated by Europeans, slavery, colonization etc happened of a period of 500 yrs, Africans where still getting killed for looking at "white ppl"(White actually means one who is privelaged or thats its orignal meaniing) in their OWN land, up until the 1940s(roughly). So all this racism classifaction has been happening welll into the 20th century, the past effects the present right? Its why we are, where we are because of the past.

So its naive to think all the actions of the last century dont effect us now or have effects on us (all of us as humans)

That mediatakeout artictle is weird and uninformed.

U dont have to have both of ur parents to be black to be a sista, Anyway theres no such thing as a persons lineage being 100% African in the America/Carribean/European/UK, that is extremely rare and probably non existent.

Now going by her parents and her current heritage, Sheila is a sista and shes mixed race too, shes want ever she is. From what ive seen of her past she seems to celebrate all her cultures which is great.

Saying shes not a sista(hate that word lol) is extremely absurd.

That's why were labeled in the first place. They categorize us to keep us divided so we can be conquered.

GOD created the human race. Man labeled us white & black for his on gain.

Why are you equating his problems with being part Black?

No TIGER WOOD F-d up BIG time, and it was how he presented himself as "wholesome" and a Family man with very young children to find he is doing what he was

THAT is the problem. His problems had nothing to do with being part BLACk but being a perv ... with contracts

But that says a lot about anyone who quickly equates it with "the Man" coming down on him because he is part Black. The foundation of your ideas are racist so that's how you will interpret things

Well I'll have to say she's Not Mexican either, Mexican isn't her nationality, American is.

Genetically there are 1000's of ethnic groups. Socially Politically there are 4 supposed races:Black Red White Yellow

And I understand the whole African's were in S. America but we don't know how long ago in the worlds history that was. And I've read and watched documentaries on it. It didn't say Africans were in S.America before the Mayans, the people who became the Mayans civilation were already there and there was witness of "Africans" coming to shore, it was more like Africans came to S.America before the Spanish. But those Africans didn't take up residency. At one time the continents were very much connected. Before continental shifts and breaks. The continents are moving even now

Being Black or White is a state of mind and consciousness. I'm White, practically an Anglophile,

but I can truly identify with African American values and culture. Black women are beautiful and

I really enjoy Black culture, art, history and music. People tend to go where they are accepted. Over

the years, I realize that Blacks accept me without any prejudice. A lot of my White neighbors, family

members and co-workers are some of the most racist bastards I've ever seen. Sheila has been totally

embrased by the Black community. She's been in Ebony, Jet and Essence Magazine, Video Soul, BET

many times and on Soul Train. How many Mexicans have you seen in these venues? Recently she was

interviewed on a Black program called Way Black When (google).

[Edited 2/17/11 23:57pm]

There are many non black women who have been featured in those magazines, including Lisa Marie Presley, Jennifer Lopez, and Gloria Estefan. Justin Beiber's name pops up all the time on "black channels," so does Robin Thicke, John B, Paul Wall. Has nothing to do with them being "brothas!"

And Jamie Foxx performed a country song on CMT on a show celebrating country music legend George Straight, does this now mean that we can call Jaime Foxx white? Darius Rucker pops up on CMT about once every 20 mins and appears on many shows on this channel and other related to country music, does that make him white? Or part of the white community? Didn't think so.. And if he did, the black community would have a fit!

I remember this one episode of Tyra that had a mixed girl on there that looked black that identified with white only. The blacks in the audience were throwing a fit! Why? Its fine for a mixed person with fair skin to be black but not the other way around? Ha!

That is the insanity of the 1 drop rule and race in general

LOL are you for real? Your mind is so infused with our centuries RACIST ideas of Blacks being inferior that you combined American Trans Atlantic Slavery with Egypt?

Are "blacks" always enslaved and raped??

No a lot of the 'lighter skinned' Egyptians as you call it are not even originally Egyptian they are Arabs/Middle Easterns.

Greeks & Romans INVADED and RAPED the NUBIANs of Egypt?? Are you kidding me, and you say I know nothing of African history?? Egypt was the center of civilization in that part of the world (the Orient had their vast wisdom and civilization too) so Egypt wasn't IT.

Greeks, Middle Easterns, Nubians, Ethiopians, Hebrews traded with Egypt. Greeks Middle Easterns, Nubians, Ethiopians & Hebrews were enslaved by Egyptians. Your racist mind is warped to reverse the story lol

In trading and commerce of course ethnic mixing takes place because there was no problem. When Rome became a world power the same thing happened. Roman had Egypt as an ally at times,, Not enslaved. Cleopatra was a Greek, Mark Athony didn't enslave Egypt...

your way off in your history son

I realize what I'm arguing with, Oldfriendsforsale is off his rockers and can't accept color. It's a new world. Our numbers as Europeans are declining and he can't see that. So, there's no use going back and forward with this attention misinformation hog. I'm a progressive White male and I can truly see how frustrating it is for African Americans in America when they have to deal with this mind skull full of rhetoric, lies and pure garbage. There's a lyric in Love Sign where Prince mentions, "reperations for the acts." I agree with P. Oldfriendsforsale needs to be educated. He should'nt even be on this site if he has issues with acknowledging African Americans.

Let's Give This A Rest. Ignorance Has No Degree, especially with quasi intellectuals . . .

That's propeganda, Europeans are just as numerous as they were 30 years ago.

Dude, your a racist. Your ideas are defined because you have a problem with white people because they don't accept you and black do-without prejudice lol I'll take you some places that can/will change that opinion.

You said Black & White is a consciousness? Which means it's made up. 2000 years ago people didn't define themselves as Black & White so where did it come from son. Look it up. It originated with a German racist scientist. But you accept race. If a European is brown how does that make him white. If an African is yellow how does that make him black?

Your only progression is that a couple black girls opened their legs for you.

I am the product of "race" mixing I Am Multiracial. And

You idiot I've never denied African-Americans lol you really sound uneducated and twisted

Aren't you the one that said Egyptians were enslaved by Greeks & Romans? and your an intellectual? lol lol

Thank you! Someone who actually listened during history class. That's just like some of the African people have "slanted eyes." That comes from the invasion of the asians invading. Same thing happened to the native people of the americas. There are some from latin/south america b/c of the AFRICAN slaves being brought there that mixed with the locals. Latin/South America has people of so many mixtures because of this, but there are some that identify with the natives. Black people need to get out of the mind set that "everyone is black b/c we all come from Africa." That is stupid! We are all different, that is beautiful. I guess my adopted korean cousin should call herself "black" too, afterall, the black community has embraced her and she is being raised by a black parent. Geesh! The Black community can't claim everyone! Others should be allowed to show pride in who they are! If you have a white/other parent, you aren't black, you are biracial/multiracial and should be able to embrace all parts of your heritage and STILL be loved by the black community!

Totally agree with you.

Most African's don't even see African/Black-Americans as African, they laugh at that idea. Yet AA's have this fantasy of being Kings & Queens in Africa and how there is the paradise of love and freedom. We are talking about HUMAN BEINGS right? lol

Yep your adopted Korean cousin has to pick a side

Kimora Lee who has a Black father and Asian mother said she is 100% Black 100% Asian, she is multiracial

Carly Simon is 1/4 black (her mother is biracial)

To these people she has to be just Black as well as her 2 children who are 1/8th Black and her grandkids who are 1/16th black... It's just summed up as Black

I had this very conversation a few months back on the org and some orgers had some very valid points.

Culture, nationality and race can be very different things. You can be a citiizen of Mexico... and therefore Mexican, and living in Mexico, have the culture of Mexicans.. (food, music, traditions) yet still be of black descent.

I think were a lot of confusion comes in is that Black is very much an American identity.

In latin american countrys prior to the 1900's they had over 20-30 different terms to describe people who were not Euro/Spanish, African or Native-American but some verying degrees of mix. They even had a term for a"100%" African who was wealthy, which put him in a different catagory. So yes a person can be fully engulfed in "mexican" culture and be of 100% African genetics. Same in American, but most americans are so racist that they don't see themselves as American 1st. If Wesley Snipes and Anderson Cooper went to Africa or some other country they would see 2 Americans 1st.

Like someone said... Africans were dropped off not only in North America but also in Central and South America and the Carribean islands.

At some point, those Africans in South America intermixed with the people of Spanish descent and adopted the culture, and family name. Soon, Mexico and its culture has more meaning than a place never visited, Africa.

Very True, and even though some cultural things may remain or become meshed with Spanish things, "Mexican" culture is their culture. A lot of Mexicans are mostly still Native-American just wearing the colonizers clothing and speaking his language. There is a lot of revival of Native & Mayan culture in Mexico now. A lot of Native-American groups are helping raise awareness and revival of Native culture in the peoples of Mexico & S.America & Hawaii

So I guess the question is... if you LOOK of African descent, but have a latino family name, was raised in latino culture, etc.... are you black? Latino?

It's all in name. Latino is the term used of anyone from the Spanish/Portugese lands. So someone from Spain wouldn't be described as Latino. Latino is almost like the 1st def of Creole (dealing with foreign born)

I have heard the phrase "Hispanic, not of african descent"... so I guess one can assume there must be a group of people who ARE Hispanic and are of African descent.

YES, a lot of this is very much American derived. There are people who are Hispanic who are very much "European" or 'white' but because Hispanic countries didn't apply the 1 Drop Rule or have the miscogenation laws against mixing or races, the 1 Drop Rule is applied to Hispanic people

I think Sheila is multiracial... and black is one of those races... just like Vanity, Troy, Mani, Jill Jones, Susan Moonsie (who it appears to me was another Black Hispanic... didn't she come from Trinidad?)

Totally agree, Well Susan Moonsie wouldn't be ..Hispanic but Carribean. Haiti Jamaica Dominican Republic and a few other islands are mostly of French colonization. And the term Creole defines their culture. the Dominican Republic is like 1/2Latin 1/2Creole

Speaking of Trinidad... I work with a woman who is from Trinidad. She looks black, but she has the accent of spanish/carribean island. She looks like Cora from MTV Real World.

Trinidad is 7 miles from Venezuela...Anyone who says they are from Venezuela would automatically be classified as Latino/hispanic right? But I am telling you, this woman would NOT be identified as anything BUT Black... until you hear her speak.

I know people like that too. You'd swear they just came from Nigeria or Ghana until they speak and they speak Spanish with Spanish names

I think Sheila has a lot of physical features that resemble African American. And I am not speaking of hair texture or skin tone... because really, "Black" people really do come in all shades.

She does, but she has just as many or more that come from the other ethnic groups she is mixed with. She is a multiracial woman. Here is Sheila's Creole mother in the middle

So all this racism classifaction has been happening welll into the 20th century, the past effects the present right? Its why we are, where we are because of the past.

So its naive to think all the actions of the last century dont effect us now or have effects on us (all of us as humans)

I get some of your points. However, people today need to "get educated" about Blacks, where the term is used as general term of reference to define them on a racial basis for many reasons, as well as their various cultures/ethnic groups they are from.

Yes race has been used as a "classification system" to divide and control specific groups of people, even to the point of slavery, and using them like currency, property, free labor, inheritance and insurance packages, as well as sexual slavery. In other forms you have some twisted people who will use a person's "skin tone" (how light or dark they are) to divide them, even if those individuals came from the same ethnic group, as well as family--apartheid to say the least.

]In present day, when one defines themselves as "Black" they are more or less referring to their connection to people within a similar group(s), who may share the same customs--ethnic/racial background, and morals/values/types of foods/religious beliefs, etc., or any one of those things that make them "familiar" so-to-speak to one another.

If people study genetics they would have a clearer understanding of why humans appear "different" from one another, yet we come from the sam human species. I recommend reading "Spencer Wells: Journey of Man: A Genetic Odyssey". It will give them an inside look of ancient humans, how/where they travelled from, why humans physically changed (hair texture, eye color, bone structure, skin tones, etc.) over the years, as they travelled from Africa (even before Africa was referred to as Africa) and all over the globe, populating it as they travelled.

Secondly, Black Americans in this country have the most, diversed DNA, this is a fact, among other groups in this country. This includes Blacks of

Caribbean heritage. I also found this report regarding Africans:

Africans Have Most Diverse DNA

Testing confirms man evolved on continent before migrating

http://www.newser.com/sto...e-dna.html

A pair of wide-ranging genetic studies, published yesterday in the journal Nature, back up the idea that humanity first evolved in Africa before migrating elsewhere, Reuters reports. DNA testing of African Americans and European Americans found that people with African roots had much more genetic diversity. Other tests discovered that DNA diversity decreased the farther away populations were from Africa.

Researchers believe that as early humans migrated out of Africa tens of thousands of years ago, a "bottleneck" effect occurred when many failed to survive, leaving a smaller gene pool among those who remained to reproduce and spread out across the world. Native Americans and Pacific Islanders had the least diverse DNA, and consequently the highest risk of harmful mutations

Again...rolleyes

I don't get it either. Sheila indentifies with her black and hispanic roots as a black latina. We claim her 'cuz she claims us...simple.

It's disturbing that anytime someone chooses to identify with black racial/cultural aspects of their heritage they get questioned/second guessed/scrutinized to withing an inch of their lives. We don't really see that with any other race/ethnicity.

IMO no amount of pseudo-academic pontificating is more important than a person's right to identify themselves as they see fit...period. Same for Misty or anyone else. "

However, if you are talking about heritage...the percentage of Blackness doesn't matter either. Especially, in the United States of America because no matter the percentage...if there is a percentage...as history has proven over and over and over and over and over and over and over...again...you're Black! Just ask Tiger Woods. rolleyes

This is the same rule as the "one drop rule" that the racist USA applied for hundreds of years to anybody with just one drop of "black blood".

Bascially a totally racist concept therefore. confused

Yet that is not the fault of Black Americans because they were not the ones who "designed" that system. When racists educate themselves that they came from the same human species, as the people they designed these type of racist systems for, then maybe we won't have to have these discussions anymore.

Not completely true, but I understand where your coming from. Even in America, there are large groups of varying ethnic groups that still only intermingle with people just like them. For various reason. There are still WASP communities that only marry intermingle with other White Anglo Saxon Protestants. There are town and villages all over the country that don't get much intermingling from other ethnic groups.

There are also varying sized groups of people in America for different reasons who have only populated with other African only genetic people. Some place in America are still very much racially defined "outright" where you don't cross into another part of town.

Also in Europe most not all but most African immigrants are very recent and still only mingle with their ethnic/cultural groups. Those who may mix with the particular Euro ethnic group tend to have moved outside of their 'cultural' community

A serious question: Why is the "one-drop rule" racist but "one drop of anything else = NOT black" not racist?

Black Americans are not children.

Blacks also didn't say the Slaves had no souls

or that it takes 5 negroes to make 1 man

or that mulattoes are sterile

or any of those racist ideas that were a part of social/religious thinking

But if they take that racist concept and push it as a fact they are now doing the work of their "oppressors" and now become oppressors

If whites said it is a crime & a sin to race mix, which is a racist idea, when blacks take the same idea and propogate it they in turn are just as racist.

Black Americans are not children. the 1 Drop Rule is still used by the NAACP and Black leaders and communities for the sake of "Political Numbers" and that's the only use.

Social-Political powers.
