a prince part works..... (a bit like the doctor who dvd files in newsagencies now)
fortnightly at your newsagency, info on the man behind the music.... the mags portion could have different sections...tours and set lists/proteges etc/band member profiles etc and a cd/or dvd with each mag...
id buy it...heck, id get them to sell it at work!!!
with a snazzy purple folder to store the written material, free with part 2
seems that i was busy doing something close to nothing, but different than the day before

That's an interesting idea, albeit likely a bit costly to produce and distribute.

When I go to other artists websites, they are not all glammed up with spinning orbs. Just simple buy or download their music. Either the entire albums or just songs you like. I won't say what he "should" do... that is what I would do now that he has put himself into a corner like another post said. These other artists have all of their music, videos, etc. on the site and guess what.... with the exception of paying for the download or order for the cd, everything else is free! No sign up fees, no overpriced t shirts that don't fit everyone!... just a simple site... simple.
With that being said................... wow, Tiger Woods just sucked big time yesterday losing his first match!!!! Ouch!! He must need some more scarlet pussy to get him back to being competitive!! LMAO!

There were concerns with distrubution for every albums since Emancipation. With THe Rainbow Children, Musicology, 3121, and Planet Earth, Prince came out looking like some kind of maverick marketing genius. Something as simple as including the CD with the concert ticket on the Musicology tour played the system and comprised Prince's greatest market strength: his live shows. It is amazing that no one had done it on that scale untl then. They had to change te rules on record sales calculations because of that cool ass Prince move.
The deal with Target got him paid before a single disc was sold - along with some customized point of sale marketing that few artists get from a major retailer. Another stroke of genius.
Prince has probably banked more on Emancipation than he has on Purple Rain - without selling nearly as many copies.
A website can be up in a matter of days for new material. Or he can strike another deal with a retailer - online or brick and mortar - because past arrangements have worked. Prince has shown that he is still relevant and there is still market for his new music.
I look forward to anything he comes up with. I have enjoyed every innovation for distribution that he has given us (yeah, even Lotusflow3r.com). [Edited 2/24/11 7:39am]

How bout he drops a decent batch of music? Seriously. If he delivered something that didn't sound like outtakes and half finished ideas and properly promoted it rather than shutting down everything on Youtube and performing on one or two shows distribution would not be an issue. Sh!t...Lady Gaga has worked a cd for a year or tow just showing up and promoting it all over the world. But that's just my thought, I'm sure many would stack 20ten and Lotusflower with his best work. It's a shame generally only fans would say that.

That sounds cool.
How much will each issue it cost? $7.77?

everythings cool no need to be concerned; ever since he came out, Prince has surprised and amazed us for decades with innnovation in terms of how he shares his art; i'm sure we'll be intrigued for years to come, and Prince will continue to do it his way

About Prince's famous comment about making more money off of Emancipation. When was the last time you mentioned Prince, and a total stranger to his music said..."Oh, that guy who sang "Jam of the Year?" NOBODY....Everytime some average joe goes to a Prince concert, Prince is making the money due to Purple Rain, or at least in part to Purple Rain. Nobody goes to a Prince show hoping to hear an Emancipation track, other than us diehards who go nuts now that he is playing "The Love We Make." He may have made more total dollars in 1996 money than what he made in 1984 money with PR, but PR has given Prince millions upon millions of dollars that he has already spent, and will be sued for over and over and over. Nothing like Prince....Number One at the Bank...uh, I mean Legal Fees. (Of course, he doesn't pay his legal fees either.)

great point, Prince obviously wasnt counting the concert money he makes. Purple rain obviously plays a much much bigger part in a prince concert than anything on emancipation ever will

Too bad Prince doesn't listen to reason, because you're hitting the nail on the head without a doubt.

Yall are a bunch of crybabies!
At the dawn of the new mellenium, he offered us a lifetime membership to his luv41a website where for just $100 dollars, we would get free music to download every month!
Then when that lifetime membership ran out, for another $77 dollars, he offered us even more free music to download with NPGMC.com for another wonderful lifetime membership.
But Prince is a saint that way. He wasn't going to just stop at two attempts to give us free music for a marginal $70-100 lifetime membership fee....
He gave us lotusflow3r.com, where for just $77, a riddle, and a week's worth of technical difficulty, we could also be exposed to even more free music, and potential for free videos.
Yall didn't have to pay more than 300 or 400 hundred bucks for an opportunity for free music, and yall are still crying! This is Prince, yall...give it a few more months and you'll get another opportunity to pay $70 to $777 for even more free music, absolutely free.
