There'll be an extended version on the Peach and Black forums right? I'm assuming if you listen to the extended version it'll already include everything in the regular podcast so you won't have to listen to both?

To match the concept of this album (un2 and in2), we decided to give you a regular edition of the podcast (un2) and our extended version of the review (in2). We discuss tracks of both releases on each show, you just get an extra 47 mins or so of Peach & Black goodness on the extended edition wink If you wanna hear the extended edition, head over to: http://peachandblack.proboards.com

I listened to the regular version today. Good work! It’s great to hear three people who can take music criticism seriously and engage in civil discourse.

Toejam and his opinion about "Strange But True?" Wow. It took me a while to appreciate the song but I never would have suspected that anyone dug it that much. Nice to hear a post '80s/post WB song get so much love.

The special extended edition will not be at iTunes, Podbean or anywhere else! Only at the peachandblack forums. Takes you 30 seconds to register and there it is smile

Interspersed throughout.

The official version is the edited version of the bonus uncut version.

and why is that? that's 2 things in a row so far that you're making people go out of their way to find and reconfigure in their itunes (or whatever) to designate it as a podcast.

come on guys.

^Basically, we consider the version on iTunes and Podbean as the 'proper' show. The one on the forums is just the unedited raw recording of the entire conversation. So there's about 45mins extra chat on there that probably isn't of any interest to casual listeners. One of our most common criticisms from listeners is that the shows are often very long and that we tend to 'ramble on' sometimes (which is probably true lol). So we've been trying to tidy the show up a bit - cut out some of the 'fat' so-to-speak. But we also know that some people like the 'ramble', so it's really up to you. It's not like there's any 'secret info' or anything. Just more of the same. There's no obligation to sign up, we just thought some people might like to hear it in it's raw form.

... And it's also a bit of homage to the Rave Un2 / Rave In2 kerfuffle lol

I absolutely love the rambling and for me the longer the episodes the better. As long as you guys are having a lively discussion I find it interesting. For example, I could have listened to you praise "Strange But True" for another fifteen minutes and it sounded like MC, the Captain and Playa felt the same way. wink

As long as you release both versions simultaneously I don't see a problem with it. If you start releasing the "deluxe" versions months afterwards that might get a little annoying.

The only criticisms you faced for rambling were in the Prince NYC podcast. Many Prince fans were too impatient for the juicy bits and not in the mood for the backstory.

have listened to half of the extended version....always like to listen to you guys...there aint many bigger lovers of prince music than me but ....if i have a small criticism....when i listen to some of the podcasts...i feel that sometimes its a bit of a lovefest going on with his music with the podcast team....hardly ever do i hear you guys pan a track or say it isnt very good....and lets be honest...prince has released his fair share of clunkers in his time as well as many brilliant tracks....so i have heard the reviews of the first 4 tracks on rave on the podcast ( one of prince's least popular albums) and no one has anything negative to say on the leading songs to one of his worst albums?....

.

the first song isnt a bad track but sounds like the weak outtake from the 80s that it is..

.

undisputed...the second track just doesnt work and is the first of many bad duets on the album

.

greatest romance...the lead off single?...is one of the worsed first singles prince has ever released from an album...its well recorded and has some nice touches but its just bland bland bland and its no wonder the album failed on the back of this song

.

and hot with u...i cant bring myself to listen to this track anymore...its just soo devoid of any real ideas and just bland again...

.

the only saving grace for this album are' i love u but i dont trust u anymore ' and ' prettyman '....two great tracks for me and i have a soft spot for wherever u go and beautiful strange on the remix album but ...no...prince was lost during this time for me....

.

apart from that...i love your stuff boys...look forward to more from you all...cheers..

only two tracks dissed on rave ?....thats a lovefest biggrin ...i would diss at least half the album...the only tracks i can listen to now are man o war...i love u but ....wherever u go and prettyman and beautiful strange on the remix album.....the rest range from bland to dreadful....this is the low point of prince's career for me....newpowersoul (if you call that a prince album ) is better than rave for me...

Well that's your opinion and it's a perfectly valid one but it is possible that people have different opinions than you and that they genuinely do like the album. For me "So Far, So Pleased" and "Silly Game" are two of the best tracks on the album but they don't get much love. I agree that it's a bad Prince album but even a bad Prince song has some good elements in it. For me I find it more entertaining to hear people try to find the good bits in Rave rather than saying "this song sucks, next."

You are nuts if you think that Newpower Soul is better than Rave Un2 the Joy Fantastic. razz

I've always loved Rave and never understood why so many fans have such a low opinion of it.

I enjoyed listening to this podcast, although I didn't agree with what they said about Wherever U Go Whatever U Do. That's such a beautiful and inspired song, I can't believe anybody would rate Kravitz's rip-off over Prince's superb original. I also think it would've made an excellent single.

Overall I think Rave is much stronger than Musicology or 3121. I can't think of a single track on those albums as good as Man O War, TGRES, ILYBIDTYA, Strange But True....
