Compassion for Prince.

I'm sitting here and I'm thinking how hard it really must be to actually be Prince.

I have so much compassion for how tiring it could be to live a life under the public's microscope.

Desiring to write music. Gathering the band. Managing money. Dealing with fans.

A Concert can be used as an analogy for the famous lifestyle Prince lives. He has tiers of responsibility. Closer than the front row of responsibility is just Prince having to take care of himself as a person that needs to eat and sleep.

I love the song, "Compassion," and I just wanted Prince to know that as a fan out here in the boonedocks that compassion comes right back to you. You aren't in this world by yourself no matter how many problems come with your personal territory.

I just wanted to say, Prince...Always..."Be Still and Know I Love You."

Send Prince a compassionate thought for the physical, emotional, and spiritual trials he must have in the position he is in. It isn't about sympathy, it's about old fashioned compassion.

Can we get 2gether
To talk about everything?
We can talk about all of our dreams
Better yet darling...
We can talk about sleeping in.~0ne

If he wants off the gravy train, he can simply retire with our blessing. Its no curse or need of compassion to have an artist make and sell his wares.

Music is Prince its not something he needs someone to feel sorry 4 him 4. He lives sleeps & breathes music. Maybe the constant so called fans not never satisfied with anything he does is tiresome. But I honestly think he doesn't care anymore what people think. He lives his life now how he wants it & tours when he wants. Doing residencies instead of going city to city is doing it how he wants to do it. Prince looks very happy content and comfortable in his own skin more than ever now.He has found the peace within himself.

Compassion

Get it on
Right on

As zero point approaches
And the field around you drop
Thoughts become reality
And it feels like time has stopped

When all that's on the radio
Is electromagnetic pop
Steady, your teeth are gnashin'

Compassion
Get it on
Compassion
Right on

Love for the greater number
Freezes over and cools
And everyone around you acts
Like a bloody fool

No sanctity to the left of you
No righteousness to the right
The only thing that's left in fashion

Compassion
Get it on
Compassion

Whatever skin you're in
We all need to be friends
All happy again
So much better than nothing

Everybody can win
With a little faith in man
Beginning of an end
Start up a brand new something

When ego, fear, and judgment
Become the rule of law
Watch the polar ice caps
Heat up, melt down, and thaw

When the greedy one forgets
That he's the reason for it all
The only gold that's so worth stashing

Compassion
Get it on, get it on
Compassion
Right on, right on

In the high-seated lawless no love can be found
Nature will rise against nature and get down

Whatever skin you're in
We all need to be friends
All happy again
It's so much better than nothing

Everybody can win
With a little faith in man
Beginning of an end
Start up a brand new something

If you got compassion
Let's get back in fashion
The new international anthem

Whatever skin you're in
We all need to be friends
All happy again
It's so much better than nothing

Everybody can win
With a little faith in man
Beginning of an end
And start up a brand new something

Whatever skin you're in
We all need to be friends
(Black and white and yellow, we can be friends)
All happy again
It's so much better than nothing

Everybody can win
With a little faith in man
Beginning of an end
And start up a brand new something

Get it on
Right on

The Word LyricsArtist: Prince (Buy Prince CDs)
Album: 3121

What is this new exaltation
That I just can't explain?
What are these new inspirations
That I can't get out my brain?
How am I gonna sleep with this feeling
Rushing all through my veins?
Get up, come on let's do something
Don't you wanna go get saved?

The night is calling you to act
Act upon every urge
You can't get no satisfaction
If you ain't got the courage
I don't know what you're afraid of
I don't know what you've heard
Get up, come on let's do something
Don't you wanna know the word?

Who's gonna save us when them spiders get next to you?
Spinning their sticky webs around what you do
We gotta safeguard against forked tongue and the treachery of the wicked one
Get up, come on let's do something

Don't matter how far you have to
The truth has got to be told
Don't matter how shiny your lips
They'll never be streets of gold
They might try to get us crazy
Cuz they don't know what I've heard
We got this new exaltation
I'm talking about the word

Who's gonna save us when them spiders get next to you?
Spinning their sticky webs around what you do
We gotta safeguard against forked tongue and the treachery of the wicked one
Get up, come on let's do something

Get up, come on let's do something
No reason to feel this pain
Get up, come on let's do something
Come on, go, let's get saved
Get up, come on let's do something
No reason to feel this pain
Get up, come on let's do something
Come on, go, let's get saved

Get up, come on let's do something
Get up, come on let's do something
Get up, come on let's do something
Get up, come on let's do something
Don't you wanna hear the word?

It doesn't take much common sense to understand that Prince, as someone who has largely placed himself in the public eye, has pressures and responsibilities. But that's the life he's chosen, so suggesting that he should be shown a measure of compassion beyond such an understanding seems to me to be misplaced and disproportionate.

I think most people (who are remotely interested) show that understanding appropriately. They realise that living the life of a world-class professional musician, for example, must require an investment of time, energy, discipline and organisation, and they understand and respect that investment. Then again, Prince doesn't have other responsibilities, which many other people have to face on a daily basis.

Beyond this basic understanding, most people (again, of thoise that are remotely interested) recognise that an individual like Prince has a right to some privacy - and thankfully Prince appears to have managed to carve out a life where, given the circumstances, he can avoid some intrusions.

When it comes to compassion, however, I would suggest that there are millions of people other than Prince who are much more deserving of our resources in that direction.

Making a show of all of this towards Prince, by creating a thread as a personal statement of compassion on a public message board comes across (to me, at least), not only as misplaced and disproportionate, but also as creepy.

This website is a microscope in comparison to how the rest of us live our lives.

Very well put!

Often I find that compassion and pity goes hand in hand, and when someone tells me they feel compassion or love for me - a compassion that is about more than our concrete personal relationship - then I feel the condescension lying underneath. It's creepy!

In life we all have different experiences these experiences shape how we view others and view life's events. Not everyone will view each event or each encounter the same and that's ok.

You're free to view as you please as we are free to view as we please. No depreciation necessary or warranted.

Sympathy, Empathy, Pity, Compassion can be used for different circumstances.

When somebody dies we offer sympathy

When someone has committed a violent crime, we may pity them.

When someone has challenges of a high regard such as lukemia we offer empathy.

Surviving the human condition from wherever you stand needs compassion.

We are all on this planet together. As far as I'm concerned, the body of humanity is only as healthy as the weakest human being.

Even something as sweet as being in love deserves compassion.

I agree with this too.

My thing about Prince is that he is not one of these celebrities who is constantly in trouble or having to deal with negative press. 99% of the time you read something about Prince it's positive. People in general respect him whether they're fans or not.

It's not as though Prince is Lindsay Lohan, MJ or Britney. These are people who have major scandals and are constantly under the glare of the media for all the wrong reasons(although they do bring a lot of the bad PR on themselves if i'm being honest). Prince really doesn't have to deal with the glare of the media spotlight much at all. Only when he chooses to work as someone already said.

Prince has:

-No major scandals

-Hugely respected by fellow artists and critics alike.

-The press you read about him is OVERWHELMINGLY positive.

If he's having personal problems in his life, then that's one thing, but as far as the media goes, he is very much respected. I don't even see his name being brought up much at all. Only when he's on tour or releasing new music. I just don't see what there is to feel sorry for or sympathize with?

Ive followed his career & life since i was a kid, ('86) he is my favourite artist, ive spent lots of time & money collecting his work, i could not of done this without love compassion & admiration 4 him as a human being.I couldnt listen 2 him & watch him 4 the vast majority of my life & not like him as a man.He is not perfect, who is? I went thro some very bad times as a child & an adult & it might sound corny but their has been 1 constant source of joy.when u really think about what he went through as a child/young man & the loss of his child & parents is it 'creepy' 2 feel compassion? Just because he is an amazingly talented man/famous/rich does not mean he doesnt deserve compassion. Also ive found him very brave 2 put his life & very personal lyrics out there 2 the world.
"We just let people talk & say whatever they want 2 say. 9 times out of 10, trust me, what's out there now, I wouldn't give nary one of these folks the time of day. That's why I don't say anything back, because there's so much that's wrong" - P, Dec '15

Prince is at this point in his career where he doesn't have 100 paparazzi stalking him every day, he doesn't have media following him to the restroom. He can pretty much live a rather peacefull life. Hell, he can even go to Nordstrom and shop at the Boys Department without anybody as much as snapping a picture of him (if he doesn't wear yoga pants with no undies that is.) . I think he's set.

He might be a bit lonely though ... he doesn't strike me as a person who has developed many close friendships over his life.
