has anybody noticed...

that the first three words of both "cream" by prince and "this is it" by mj are... like, basically the same?

they both say "this is it" almost exactly the same way (as far as i can tell, except prince sings it faster) down to the click of the "t" at the end of the word "it"

lol i like to think that mj got it from prince.

also, boxed im sorry if this isnt posted in the right place...? its about mj but its just as much about prince, so hmm

Yeah exactly alike. I think it's just a coincidence but it's a cool observation.

Michael's song was written in the early 80s. And I'm pretty sure the lyrics are by Paul Anka.

The lyrics were written by both, actually.

Didn't you find it odd that when Prince released Diamonds & Pearls, Walk don't walk contained car horns and when MJ released Dangerous a little later it also had a song using carhorns???

coincidence???

Yes? Even if it wasn't, would it matter? 70% of D&P was crap anyways.

^ what?

70% of Dangerous was crap too. biggrin

Cream

Gett Off

Diamonds & Pearls

Money Don't matter 2Nite

Insatiable

^ imo. those 5 big singles from D&P were amazing.

I prefer D&P to what Prince has released 1996-2010, post Warner Bros.

Dangerous was not crap. I'll admit, diamonds and pearls wasn't all bad. It's just that I can't get with the whole boyband feel of the album.

I'd say they both suffer from being released at the dawn of the CD age, where album lengths were increasing to fill up the disc to justify the high cost. I can think of 3 tracks from each that could be cut without me missing them one bit. and probably improve the overall quality of them both.

Attempt at getting it back on track:

Do you know when the version that got released was recorded? And had MJ's "This is it" leaked before Cream came out?

It's most likely a co-incidence, I know, but they might have "borrowed" it from each other. Perhaps someone could give us a little more info?

You mean you're gonna actually hear what we play tonight? You're not gonna make up the notes in your mind?

Oh man - really? lol.

And just for the record "This Is It" was written by Paul Anka and Michael and recorded way back in 1983. The released version in 2009 was an updated arrangement using the original demo vocals.
