1999=2012

The rights to the albums in Prince's back catalogue goes back to him 30 years after it's release, one at a time, so that means he will get 1999 back in 2012, the supposed year of the apocalypse!

Is that a coincidence? What if he planned this and releases it in 2012 just before the end of the world when it's starts raining purple rain!

it is 35 years I do not know what Prince was smoking but he will not get (unless WB was just nice to him) For You until April 2013.

so 1999 in 2017

Lol this is crazy, I did not notice that! Nice catch swdee. It is weird, hehe. But most likely he wasn't aware, since at the time he thought he owned his masters (so wasn't even thinking about 30 yrs later) and everyone was too busy being scared of the apocolyptic threat of the end of 1999

Yes, at 19, I finally saw the Revolution, a legendary band. And I talked to Wendy!!! biggrin In addition to seeing Prince, I have now lived life. Thank you Purple People!!

They revert back one at a time 35 years after the year of each release according to a law passed around 1976. But Prince has recently stated that he was getting and has received the rights after 30 years on at least the first 3 LPs so far.

If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

Yeah I don't mean to shoot you down or anything, but you might want to do some research before sucking in apocolyptic themes spawned by the media and perverted by pop culture. 2012 roughly marks the end of the 13th Baktun, which isn't necessarily the end of the world, but rather the Mayan equivalent to the Christian rapture. I could go on, yada yada yada, but I digress. Sorry.

Didnt he recently say that he had already gotten back the first five albums and that they were already remastered?

I musta heard wrong.

Hmmm.

What you mean to say is that the Peach and Black guys said that Prince told them he had them back.

But it's pretty suspect given that that is not the law in America....

Well, yeah... but I'm not questioning the Peach and Black guys' honesty. And what was actually said was that Prince had remastered the first 6 albums and had ownership of For You, Prince and ("soon" as of the interview)Dirty Mind.

Spinlight and Squirrelgrease, you both know Prince likes to "make shit up"! It's called lying where I come from but anyway! shrug

Has there been any collaboration or evidence put forth that he's gotten those masters back and already remastered them, which by the law of this land (not Princeland) shouldn't even happen on the first one until at least 2013, by someone other than someone talking to Prince, at the time?

I knew from the start that I loved you with all my heart.

Well, one can only speculate since the boys from Peach 'N Black didn't push the subject during their convo. Prince and WB could certainly have made a deal during one of their many negotiations to have the dates pushed up 5 years. Might be why we saw some cooperation from Purps during the Ultimate project. Who knows.

Wait?! So is it 35 years or 30 years??? Cuz I bragged to everyone already that he already has his first 3 LPs. confused

And I'm not so hooked on him remastering and whatnot, although it would be nice. I just hope he gets them. They're his babies smile

It doesn't matter when Prince gets them, he'll let them languish out of print as he has all of the NPG albums.

he is not remastering them. what he said was some bull about using a computer to do it, wrong. It is an ART. Not a logarithm. at best he will do what was done for Ultimate. *not remasters just some noise filtering and sound leveling*

He has new versions of some old songs, I remember it being said he played the new 'clean' version of Sexy MF at a party.

So I reckon he is gonna rereleased the albums remastered but also replace some songs with new versions particularly clean versions.

I can't imagine he would release the original Darling Nikki! Perhaps it will be changed to "I met her in a hotel lobby, just reading a magazine"
