The Word would probably be one of my first choices as well, it's the song I play most from 3121 and maybe the most out of all his recent jams.

I think Dear Mr. Man is also a really nice political statement song. Pure jazz-funk, I really like it.

i think "The Word" can be considered a modern classic.

What time frame would you consider "old clasics" and "modern classics"?

I would difine the 80" as old classics, and anything after that as modern classics.

Here is my partial list.

7

Gett Off

Cream

Letitgo

Pheromone

Dinner With Dolores

Chaos and Disorder

Don't Play Me

Money Don't Matter Tonight

The Truth

The Word

Dreamer

Colonized Mind

Days Of Wild

Dione

Te Amo Corazon

I'm sure I'll think of more.

The Word is perfect. It is not overbearing in voice or instrumentation.. I loved this one from jump street. It is a modern classic as you've stated. It has that perfect cadence or another term I cant quite explain. Maybe it's "simple" and/or "direct'?

jonylawson when do we pick the next modern classic to discuss? Will it be on this same thread or a new one? Because I have my choice to discuss.

I Love You But I Dont Trust You

That is a "Wally" type of perosnal song. It has a great hook/melody and it's akin to Snows In April in its quiet-ness.
