Sure, I've done plenty of stupid things when drunk. But then I sobered up, and if I'd made a bad decision while drunk, I fixed it.

What the "Prince did ecstasy" crowd would have you believe is that:

1. While sober, he recorded an album; then

2. He got high once on ecstasy and decided it was a bad album; and then

3. While high, he decided not to release it; and then

4. He sobered up and decided not to do ecstasy any more; but

5. He decided to stick with a major, career-affecting decision he had made while under the influence of something he decided was bad for him.

Nah, not buying it.

I think a better explaination would be

1. Recorded an album (we don't know what state of mind he was in during any of the sessions) The lyrics are very very odd, so I don't think that we can judge if he was sober. Plus the song Superfunkycaliifragisexy sound like an ecstacy trip to me. I don't think he did ecstacy just once. Just sayin.

2. Took ecstacy probably with Cat and Ingrid and had a bad trip. Who else knows what he was doing. My guess is he had a bad trip that freaked him out (like all bad trips do) while listening to the album and probably during that trip decided that he should not release the Black Album. I don't think he was freaked beyond belief, but I do think that people can come to some very strong conclusions and have some strong experiences while under the influence of drugs. IMO, it sounds more like a bad acid trip than ecstacy but I digress.

3. After said experience, realized the album was about to come out very soon and went to Susan Rogers house to discuss the removal and replacement of the album.

I do think he wanted the Black Album to come out as it was an experiment with marketing and his image. I also think his "trip" or whatever freaked him out enough to want to stop it's release. I don't think that this affected his carrer positively or negatively seeing as TBA had no marketing around it and Lovesexy had hardly any "single" material on it.

Well I don't smoke, drink or do drugs, but when I was a teenager, I had friends who were around those who did, and I tried a little of each just to see what's so great about them and I simply wasn't interested in continuing. I'm so glad I tried it back then when I look back, cause I have really bad stress levels now and suffer from depression and sometimes want to numb away the pain and wish I could drink it away, but I have good control and I don't do it at all. So I don't judge Prince for it either if it's really true, without it I don't think I'd have my username

I don't think it's the CONTENT of the record so much as the intent that Prince had when he decided to compile and release it. If it were a problem from the perspective of content, I don't think the 2 most "offensive" songs on the album would have been a staple of the LoveSexy tour.

I don't think they are an abomination. They are interesting ways to alter the inputs and connections to our experience of life. And, other than the occasional bit of alcohol, don't use them.

I have noticed that when a news story is doing a negative story on someone they tend to use bad photos and when it is a good story they use good ones. I wonder what the gist of that issue was? (I stopped getting them before that one, well i am pretty sure I would have remembered that!)

Of course the man was dabbling with drugs. Which ones? Who knows, but I figure LSD and Ecstasy.

As for the Black Album cancellation...I believe the story seeing as so many involved at the time have spoken about it, but that for damn sure wasnt his first time foolin with ecstasy.

Superfunkycalifragisexy is a blow by blow account of a night rollin on E and Im pretty sure it was recorded well before Blue Tuesday or whatever they called it.

Zero evidence???? Sooo all those eye witness accounts and the people, such as Cat, actually revealing where they got the drugs to begin with is just wiped out of existence because you say so???

The spirituality excuse is the real cover-up and its a lame one. Heck, Prince's very first words on LoveSexy support the drug idea.
