Prince ranked the 11th most successful R&B artist of the past 25 years

Billboard tabulated the 50 most successful R&B artists of the last 25 years, combining chart performance on the R&B singles and albums charts, and Prince comes in at number 11!

Bear in mind, this excludes most of the Purple Rain era and everything before it, since the tabulation begins from January 1985. Not a bad showing! Also remember, this list is based on chart performance, and has nothing to do with artistic merit. Among related artists, Tevin Campbell squeaked in at number 50.

It'd be interesting to see how much each of these performers earned/got paid in that time. Meaning, I wonder if there is correlation between chart "success" and artist's earnings.

R Kelly has had a lot of R&B hits not to mention all the ones he wrote for others especially in the 90's...

They say it's based on chart performance and if they've taken into account the songs that wern't neccessarily sung by the artist just written by them then R. Kellys place would make sense cuz he must of written songs for at least 90% of the artists on that list plus his own songs have done weeks at no.1. But if not then i dont get it myself... rolleyes

People say 'if you haven't got anything nice to say then don't say anything at all' but i say 'IF YOU HAVEN'T GOT ANYTHING TO SAY THEN DON'T SAY ANYTHING AT ALL!'
