Although Batman is pretty cool it is quite commercial and I do sometimes wish that instead of doing that deal he released 'Rave Un2 The Joy Fantastic', based on the tracklist shown on the screenshots above, this would probably have been his best ever album, esp coming right after the spirituality of Lovesexy.

Or at least...released it after or before Batman.

Although have to say I'm a fan of GB so wouldn't have wanted that replaced....

I wish i knew this version. Does anyone know of the orignal tracklist for this project?

Does that mean he re recorded Moonbeam Levels, the original would've sounded out of place, i wonder what the newer version sounds like?

cool

^ What people don't get about these documents is that, rather than a tracklist it is simply a list of tracks. Big difference....

With what appears to be a title, possibly an album title.

Yeah, he probably would have rerecorded it.

I still haven't heard Good Judy Girlfriend, even though I probably have mixed in with all my boots albums and live shows

And no indication of numbering or sequence.

Good Judy Girlfriend appears on Carmen Electra (1993).

I always wanted to hear Am I Without U. Sounds intresting.

Some people think I'm kinda cute
But that don't compute when it comes 2 Y-O-U.

I used to have a version of this from the 80's. It was really funky. Unfortunately my ex destroyed a lot of my rare Prince items. Anyone know where I can find this? I believe it was a B side from a single from the batman era.... i think

You could never have heard that on a single because it was never released as a single, unless you're talking about the bit on 200 Balloons.

The released version is exactly the same as the 1988 version. He just deleted an instrumental break with some eastern overtones on it.

Regarding the tracklist for the original 'Rave...' 1988 album it was never completely clear. There was at least two probable tracklists and some songs were slated for this project as well as for some early configs of 'Graffiti Bridge'.

Some years ago there was a 'version' of the 'album' circulating on p2p that was nothing but a poor fan-made cut&paste effort. Instead of 'Stimulation' (which has never circulated) he'd put one of the early Loring Park instrumentals. Lame as hell.

Well.. I do know for a FACT that it was on a single. And it was called Rave unto the joy fantastic. It was a Bside. And no, it was NOT 200 balloons

well then that single must have been a bootleg because there is only 1 known 'outtake' version

of the song, which is the original 88 version that people have mentioned here. and that, indeed,

is 98% identical to the released version on the '99 album.

there was never any official released version of this song prior to the year 1999 when it was on

the album of the same title. no promo's, no inhouse promo's and no 'tapes for other people' or

any such were ever circulating or even known to exist.

there is however a live version from the "small club" 1988 aftershow bootleg, that is much more

upbeat/faster with more guitar.

the only other bside from the batman era that is pretty fast and upbeat and 80s is "feel u up",

but i'm sure that's not what you're thinking of so i wouldn't know what else it could possibly be.

and true love lives on lollipops and crisps
