Reebok to release Purple Rain "inspired" kicks

For Spring/Summer 2011 Reebok presents their Court Victory Pump and Insta Pump Fury sneakers as part of the Prince Pack. Inspired by the Purple Rain album, both sneakers come in purple colorways, mixing premium materials on the upper, as well as featuring nice details, including lasered graphics and more. Look out for a release early 2011.

It doesn't say whether or not they will come in both men's and women's sizes. I like them, but purely for nostalgic reasons. The prettiest purple athletic shoe I've ever seen. yoda

These look better and i have them... will be rocking them to one of the upcoming shows in NJ and NY

there isn’t a Barkleyism that’s the true antithesis of ‘Turrible’, these new kicks certainly represent the complete opposite of bad. An all-purple Charles Barkley retro has been a long time coming, and with contemporary fashions skewing toward the simplest of self-expressions, it’s fitting to see the Nike Air Max CB 94 release in a combination of Varsity Purple and the new Ink shade of violet. These could just as easily pass as a Decepticons AM CB 34, but with that inspiration already used, we get to enjoy these in all their regal glory. Nothing about them really signifies the purple rain influence aside from the color which sucks, but I love pumps and would get these if they weren't so expensive.

You're so glam, every time I see you I wanna slam!

At put his symbol discreetly on there or somethin to let ppl know where the inspiration came from. To me it just looks like another pair of purple kicks

Yes, at 19, I finally saw the Revolution, a legendary band. And I talked to Wendy!!! biggrin In addition to seeing Prince, I have now lived life. Thank you Purple People!!

Sneaker companies have been releasing "tribute" colorways for years...and usually they don't use the logo of the "inspiration" behind the kicks. Probably for copyright reasons.

For example, this (ugly) New Balance is obviously utilizing the 7-Eleven colors.

I think they're ugly neutral

But then again I find a lot of Jordans and other popular shoes people my age seem to love ugly, so it may just be my taste.

I have a pair of purple checkered Vans slip ons, a limited edition of those with the symbol would be sweet.

Kinda strange, kinda awesome.

Yeah, I don't get it either. At least put a raindrop on 'em somewhere. Or maybe the Reebok logo in the Purple Rain font? shrug

I think the white mid-sole make them look like a 'straight-to-Marshalls' type tennis shoe, very average in appearance, but it's merely my prejudiced observation... wink

Where's the link or ad that says these really are "Prince" and "Purple Rain" inspired?
