Which Version do you like better?

Not sure how to put this but what are there versions of songs out there that you like alot better then another version of the same song say on a different album?

For me it's We Can Funk. Love it on Box o Chocolate but can't stand the version on graffiti bridge. Even though it's listed as a George Clinton Song. Dark is another song that comes to mind also. I like it better on crystal ball then on come.

I prefer the version of The Dance on The Chocolate Invasion to the version on 3121. shrug

The original, new-wave/punk/funk take on Tick Tick Bang kicks my balls right up into my sphincter hole. I love that outtake. music

funkomatic

"We can funk" is criminally overrated, be it the outtake or the Graffiti Bridge version.

I also think that the original of "The dance" is better than the completely overproduced remake.

The same goes for "Tick, tick, bang". The outtake feels much more natural than the released version.

Elephants And Flowers - the original feels a little darker and rawer

We can Funk - Both the 1986 version and the 1989 (with of out George Clinton) the album version feels to over produced.

Yep the original is way better imho, the 3121 version is way overproduced, although I am grateful for both versions.

Say whaaa??? lol

I don't know if live versions count, but I gotta go with Take Me With U. Loved the album version, but every time it gets played live, it gets a little worse. Now, it's like an old, broken pinata with no candy left inside.

Sometimes the released version is the better one, which is the case with Feel U Up and Irresistible Bitch, for instance. On the other hand, I do love Tick Tick Bang in the original version too. I also much prefer the full intro to Joy In Repetition, cutting the drum beat that rolls into the song was a very bad choice, afaic.

As to Dark, I'm in favor of the Come version. Come to think of it, I don't understand why people would prefer the other version(s?) of the song Come. The album version is great!

And oh yeah... Make Believe, funk version, that's just the best! (No silly "black motherfuckers in the house" rapping) I can listen to that version all day long!
