This song was recorded on Oct 15th 1988 during the Lovesexy tour.

The song was considered for use on Batman, an early unreleased trailer for the movie features We Got The Power and Batman Theme as background music. However the filmmakers decided against using both tracks.

The chant of "Hey! we got the power, oh we got the soul, hey we got to sho' nuff get off to make the devil go, go" was lifted from the track and used in Batdance.

Also a chant of "Hey, we got the power, oh we got the soul" was also used in the Carmen Electra track Power From Above.

Partyman" is a song by Prince from his 1989 Batman album, and the follow-up to his number one hit, "Batdance".[1] The song is one of the few on the album that is prominently featured in the film, accompanying the scene where the Joker and his minions gleefully desecrate the Gotham City Art Museum before meeting Vicki Vale.

The song became the only Batman single to perform better in the UK charts, where it peaked at number 14, as opposed to the U.S. (where it peaked at number 18). The upbeat and humorous number features horn samples and Prince's sped-up "Camille" vocals, as well as a vocal performance by Anna Fantastic. The 12" single extends the song to about six minutes in length (labeled as the "Video Mix"), and features the B-side "Feel U Up", a previously unreleased Camille track which would later be available on The Hits/The B-Sides compilation.

"Feel U Up" was originally cut in 1981, but re-recorded in 1986 for the Camille album. Despite being intended for a totally different project, the horn arrangement and vocal style compliment "Partyman" perfectly. The 12" single also included a "Purple Party Mix", which starts with a string of samples from Prince's earlier hits and contains different lyrics. A track identified as a "music mix" is an instrumental of the "Purple Party Mix".

The song's accompanying music video is often regarded by fans as one of his finest, again presenting Prince's "Gemini" persona dressed in a "half-Joker" costume.

Owing to licensing problems, "Partyman", like all of the Batman-era hits, has failed to appear on any Prince compilation album, barring the UK singles promoting The Hits/The B-Sides.

The Arms Of Orion: is a slow, romantic duet written and performed by Prince with Sheena Easton, from the 1989 Batman soundtrack.[1] Released after "Batdance" and "Partyman" had both gone top 20 in UK/U.S. charts, the single was a top 40 hit single on the US Billboard's Hot 100 at #36. "The Arms of Orion" is a tender but somewhat melodramatic ballad that is accompanied mainly by the piano. Synthesizers also play a strong role throughout the song, programmed to emulate a string section. The track also uses a subdued drum machine loop, and samples of rain and thunder. The lyrics allude to the constellation of Orion, implying that the arms of the figure in the sky are wide enough to hold him and his lover together, although the lovers are far apart.

Batdance" was a last-minute replacement for a brooding track titled "Dance with the Devil", which Prince felt was too dark.[1] Incidentally, though "Dance with the Devil" remains unreleased, some of the lyrics appear on the album's liner notes.

"Batdance" is almost two songs in one—a chaotic, mechanical dance beat that changes gears into a slinky, funky groove before changing back for the song's conclusion. The track is an amalgam of many musical ideas floating around at the time. Elements from at least seven songs (some unreleased) were incorporated into "Batdance": "200 Balloons", "We Got the Power", "House in Order", "Rave Unto the Joy Fantastic" (later released on the album, Rave Un2 the Joy Fantastic), "The Future", and "Electric Chair", as well as the 1966 "Batman Theme" by Neal Hefti. The song's music video, directed by Albert Magnoli and choreographed by Barry Lather, featured dancers costumed as multiple Batmen, Jokers and Vicki Vales.[2] Prince appears both as himself, and as well as a costumed character in face paint known as "Gemini", with one side representing the Joker (evil), and the other, Batman (good). The Batmen and Jokers alternate dance sections, while Prince/Gemini sing the lyrics. Eventually the video ends with Gemini hitting a detonator, exploding an electric chair (referenced in the song), and Prince warning, "Stop" as the video abruptly ends. The video also features one Vicki Vale wearing a shirt with the words "All this and brains too", a reference to Batman: The Dark Knight Returns by Frank Miller, in which a female news presenter wears a top with the same slogan.

Gemini is Prince's astrological sign, and is a reference to the duality throughout his music. "Gemini" would also make an appearance in the "Partyman" video, but with the "Batman" half replaced by Prince's normal appearance.
