How far would U/have U go 2 C Prince? I'm heading 2....

UPDATE: OMG!! I did it! I did it! I just got done buying my tickets to the Herning Denmark show for Oct. 22. This is such short notice, but oh well!! I'm so excited, I haven't done much around Denmark, so I'm happy to go there for the sightseeing too! I'm staying an extra 3 days, wish I could stay longer. I was hoping for the Copenhagen show too, but that was already sold out. I can't wait to tell everybody tomorrow!! I'm going to Denmark to see Prince is 3 weeks!! biggrin

So I'm thinking long and hard about attending one of the European shows Prince has supposedly confirmed dates for...I'm checking flights to Finland and Norway, since I'm familar with those countries. But I'm also thiking about one of the Italy shows. It's not a big deal to me, since I love Europe anway and the whole trip should cost probably no more than $1,000-$1,200. But when I mentioned to a few friends, they were like.."wow that's far just to see Prince." I'm thinking, "mini vacation and Prince concert, great combination."

So how far have you traveled to see Prince? If you haven't, would/are you gonna travel to see him live? It doesn't see like we're gonna get any shows for the US anytime soon.

I would travel within Australia or to NZ and make it a mini-holiday, but probably no further at this time.

If certain circumstances were different for me, I'd happily organise a holiday anywhere in the world around a Prince concert if there was one going.

People travel long distances for lots of reasons - just because your friends don't really get your reasons doesn't mean much, as they might go to Europe or Asia for a completely different, equally particular reason.

If you're comfortable taking the time and spending the money and travelling that distance, then do it and enjoy it! What fun, to have an overseas holiday and see Prince at the same time! smile

(Of course, I still have my hopes up for a Melbourne concert so I don't have to go anywhere, lol!)

Last year a friend and I drove from Oklahoma to Minneapolis for the Paisley Park gig. Terrible drive, but it was worth it. smile

I live in South Florida and I've seen P perform in Las Vegas (3121 Shows), Minneapolis (7.7.7 and Oct. 2009), furthest was Las Vegas, loved every minute of it.

I live just outside London and have travelled to Paris, Las Vegas & Minneapolis to see him although I'm sure this is small beer compared to many other fans. But it does make a lot of sense - foreign land, a place u'd like to see anyway with Prince as a cherry on the top. Nice.

I've flown from NYC to San Francisco for a one night only gig @ The Orpheum. Made for a very nice weekend trip.

When eye go 2 a Prince concert or related event it's all heart up in the house but when eye log onto this site and the miasma of bitchiness is completely overwhelming!

Back when I was at my peak of being a fan, I saw him in Cork, Ireland on the Nude tour. Great show and fun to see how another country attends a concert. (They were much nicer and when my binoculars got passed around in the crowd, they eventually got back to me... I can't guarentee that happening here in Los Angeles).

The expanded version of my book PRINCE and The Purple Rain Era Studio Sessions 1983-1984 was released in November 2018. (www.amazon.com/gp/product/1538114623/ref=dbs_a_def_rwt_bibl_vppi_i0) or www.facebook.com/groups/1...104195943/

I think it was a 2,000 mile trip to London the last time, but I would have travelled across the world to see him live at least once. razz

Concerts in general are a good excuse to travel to foreign places... The only downside is that you have to be okay with the city even if the show doesn't happen. I probably wouldn't recommend Helsinki this time of the year when the temperatures are below freezing and everything looks gray.

For the current tours I can't assure I'd go down just to the flat below to watch him perform.

1956.98 miles each way is the longest, followed by 819.73 miles each way. Both of those were plane flights, though. Not really very far. Almost did a Bay Area to NYC trip but ended up thinking better of it.

Likewise, traveled from Chicago to Las Vegas for the 3121 shows. Also, Chicago to L.A. For the Nokia Theatre show last year. Definitely worth those trips. Plus, I have family in L.A. so I make it a vacation to see them as well. Life is short and I know I won't get as many chances to see Prince perform so I make it a point to try to see him in concert when I can.

Yeah I understand, I'm totally downgrading to attend this show! biggrin I've changed my cell phone plan and I'm moving to another house, which is $500 cheaper for me to maintain, which is where the $1,500 for this trip is coming from (savings for the next 3 months!). Of course I've wanted to move anyway since I'm in school too and cut back to part time work, so this was just the umph that I needed to go ahead and make the move (I hate moving especially on such short notice=2 days to move a whole house!). This is the most sporadic thing I've ever done too, usually I plan way in advance, but this is 3 weeks only!! smile

Prince is GORGEOUS. I'm inspired. GOD is GREAT. Is there anything else to say? lol

Three weeks is definitely brave. I know it's going to be a great show.
