Addonis and Basheba

Hello purple party people! I have a question, we all know that Addonis and Basheba was recorded in 86", but do U think the song would have worked on the Parade Album or SOTT? IMO, I would say that this song would have fit perfectly as a B-side to "Mountains" instead of "Alexa De Paris". Just for the record, I remember reading somewhere that Susan Rogers said something to the effect that this song was "pure saccharine" which I feel this was code words for fake. Now, I would be the first to admit, that the snippet didn't hit me like "Adore", but IMO the song (based on what little I heard) is better than "Crucial". Anyway, what do U guys think, Parade era or SOTT's era? I will say that this song could've have been a slow creeper on the R&B charts circa 87", it just grows on you...smile

i know..I was expecting something more fluff, but it sounds beautiful to me and the horns and harp are lovely.

I has an SOTT feel to it to me. Parade maybe, but since it was recorded post Parade I can't even speculate on that.

Since SOTT was so long it could have had another ballad on there besides Slow Love and Adore and this one probably would have been a nice addition. I would say it could replace Beautiful Night, but then there'd be like three slow songs in a row.. might have been a bit much.

There is already so much going on in the short clip for that to be the beginning of the song I can't imagine what would have been added and how the song ends. Hopefully the entire song will surface one day.

Prince esta muerto...

vitriol

I can't stop dreaming about Parade being a double album with a second disc comprising jewels like Adonis & Batseeba, Go, Splash, All My Dreams, Heaven...

That means it sounds like Parade to me.

Kind of hard to answer since The Dream Factory and the original Cystal Ball configuration were both created in between Parade and Sign of the Times. There was a ton of songs recorded in that short period of time. Songs with Revolution members, songs that were just Prince, songs that were recorded with them and the altered to remove their parts. Many of them were considered for a configuration of one album or another, but some of them were just vault tracks. So really, who knows? I know I'd like to hear the full-length version, though. biggrin
