I am loving it. No question. I sing along in the car on the way to work. It is a happy album and the hidden track is a good get-your-rock-on song for me. I love it.

So many posts on here about just about everything. I skip posts with titles like "Which Prince outfit makes you laies go ee-aa" and such.

The strength of the org in my view is that it doesn't censor good from bad questions, thus making it very much alive, because people don't think: Oh no, would it be silly to ask this? They just post, and sometimes the discussions and the dialogue becomes vibrant and uplifting and informative.

So my point is: Instead of ridiculing or just critizing people for making dumb posts, respect that they and others might not find it dumb - and just leave it in peace - there are planty of original posts to spend our time on.

I am yet to listen to it...after all the bad reviews I just couldn't...but i've been hearing Future Soul Song is one of the highlights of the album...some say its like Future baby mama ( 1 one my favs)..I just listened to it..its ok...future baby mama is way better but if this is the highlight then I dont think I'm gonna like it...so to ya'll who've listened r they ANY gems on this album...do I need to have this album?

You are missing out on a "gem". 20Ten is excellent in it's entirety. Btw Future Soul Song is truly a beautiful "spiritual love ballad" from Prince to his "first love" God.....imho.

If one is not ready for the evolution of Prince, then you might as well say bye bye and find another artist to embrace.

20ten suffers from the same damn near imposable standard the last several albums faced... the other prince albums. Like Prince said his only competition is, well, himself in the past.

the thing is WB was right back in the 80s/90s prince was releasing too much too fast. and his impact gets diluted. I think that if he would have done album every 3 or 4 years post 1987 I think He would have had more success and more albums sold.

EDIT: for some reason this incomplete post posted itself. there must be some key combination to post? (it may come as a shock but i am a lousy keyboardist...my 8th grade typing teacher would not be pleased)

but now i am annoyed so i might come back and post more about how the main thing that worries me about most if not all the post 97 material is it will go OOP and we will have a hard time getting it. But then again in the digital age a copy is as good as (and in the right hands Better that) the original.

it may well be, but it is not easy to really let go and totally get into another album. I am not sure if it is just my weirdness or what but to me there is an investment in taking a song into myself.

and as i am 23 years older than I was when I first took in SOTT getting totally into another new album is not easy, why do that when I can just put it parade or lovesexy and have a deep experince.

I agree...I've spent a lot of time listening to it now....and I think he has some solid stuff on there...ppl r very quick to critize him because he is a genius and we expect a high level of material from him at all times ( his mediocre work in some ppls opinion is still 1000% better than whats on the radio today)....the songs I liked instantly though were Laydown, Sticky like glue and Act of God ( I'm sure there'll be more)....I'll never say bye bye to prince..through good and bad there will never ever be another like him.

honestly? for me, as much as i respect and enjoy Prince's music, including a couple of tracks on 20TEN, this album feels and sounds like plastic spirituality.

something is off about it, the lyrics dont come across sincerely and there's a robotic feel to a lot of it.

it's almost like he's become someone other than who he really is and is just playing the part with limited commitment, like he doesnt believe himself.

the identity of his muse is clear on this album, not by name, but by the influence she has had on him, it comes across in the over-all feel of the album which is plastic and insincere.

sort of like a sex-affair pretending to be love and spirituality, if you put it under the microscope, there's a level of fraudulent vain toxicity buzzing about inbetween the lines, fooling themselves and the undescerning listener.

but i think you'll enjoy the album if ur looking for something fun and boppy.

it's a no-brainer.

YAY!!! You listened!! If one takes the ablum alone, it is AWESOME!!! People need to listen to it for what it is...Prince's new ablum and stop comparing it to other ablums. Whenever I listen to Prince, I enjoy what's on that ablum that I'm listening to instead of comparing it to my fave songs on other ablums. It's all about what I'm feeling and need to hear at a certain moment. For instance, I woke up this morning NEEDING to hear "Pink Cashmere!!" Then I felt the need to hear "Baby Knows.." So I've been jamming both of them all day!!! Last night, all I wanted to hear was Laydown!!

Laydown and Act of GOD are just amazing tracks to me! I wanna see Prince do them live SO BAD!! nuts And I'm with you...I'll NEVER say Bye Bye to my baby, Prince can do NO wrong in my eyes!! razz

Prince is GORGEOUS. I'm inspired. GOD is GREAT. Is there anything else to say? lol

Just get it, listen 2 it and make ur own opinion rolleyes

whats with all the smart comments ?......yes I can and will have to make my own final opnion...I'm just asking for reviews...same as if u were to buy a cd or watch a movie...most ppl read/ listen to reviews before forming their own opinion...geez!

the album is great except for sea of everything. replace that song with an uptempo track or just get rid of it altogether and the album is much better. if would suggest never putting two ballads in a row on any album.

Don't listen to the bad reviews here. Bunch of BS. I love the new album, and yes you should get it. It's upbeat, happy, and full of life. If I had time I'd review the songs but I have a 9 month old to take care of.

I only had heard Walk in Sand before my CD arrived. Someone had posted a video of it on this site and I thought it was an official release clueless I fell in love with that ballad right away.

When the CD came I started to play it three times and stopped it before I allowed Compassion to play all the way through. But once I played the whole CD a couple of times, I did start to appreciate this track also.

The gems on this CD for me are Sticky like Glue, Beginning Endlessly, Walk in Sand, Laydown and Future Soul Song.

Although I do like the musical arrangement of Act of God I had an adverse reaction at first. I think it has more to do with my upbringing than anything else. If everyone who heard the song was able to hear and understand the total lyrics immediately, I would have nothing but praise for this song. But people are so quick to judge that someone hearing this might interpret it as something it's not. The words 'Act of God' stand out but not so much the part where Prince says: call it what U want (ex) 'CEPT' an Act of God. I think it comes across real well except for that reason. We all know that todays' Prince praises Jehovah, but some people may not and could possibly interpret this song in a different way.

I think Lavaux is a fun song that has grown on me. I'd probably really love it if I had ever been to Switzerland and had a carefree experience there lol

Sea of Everything just makes me wanna cry and Prince music usually does the opposite thing so it's a bit of an adjustment. All in all, I absolutely love 2010!

I agree with what you said, especially about Act of GOD!! I hope no one really focuses too much on what it means and just listen to the good sound of the music. It really is a great song. And if one is religious, then the meaning behind the song is great!

It would be so awesome to go to Switzerland and just jam Lavaux!!

The cd is just awesome, I love it!! I wish Prince would release and promote it here in the US!! It's a real gem and I think he could get a couple hits at least from the cd if he wanted to!!

I would rate it about a 3/10, which is fairly poor. There are a couple of OK songs but they are only just OK.

Sorry, I downloaded it so I don't know all the titles. Walk in Sand was one of the better ones and so was Stickey Like Glue. I got it free so I am not complaining but would if I paid full retail for it.

Prince is my all-time favorite musician/performer. But, I do think he's diluted himself a bit over the years. I also think he could benefit from someone else helping him select the singes on his albums. If he chose the best songs from the last 5 albums and put those on 1 album (and held off releasing anything for about 5 years) then it would be highly acclaimed. Instead, he constantly puts out so-so albums with a few good tracks. Of course, I am like many of his fans who is looking for another Purple Rain to happen where virtually all tracks are great. I think he probably can put out a critically acclaimed album if he sifted through all of the filler. Of course, some of you all might like the funny/offbeat/corny songs I call filler and maybe that's who he is playing to?

I often make mixed artist CD's or music lists on my Ipod. Lady Gaga, John Legend, Jay Z, Alecia Keys, and some others dominate my mixes. These artists have great beats, fresh lyrics, and are relevant and fresh today. I always include the best of the new Prince music in my mixes but I normally come away feeling like his best is just filler among all the others. I guess his best days are behind him and he is basically an "Oldie but Goodie"?

He is certainly a match for ANY of his contemporaries but the newer artists are edgyier and more hip and therefore more popular...but still not better. Strange.
