DAMMIT!! if you two (and you know who you are) wanna fight each other do it somewhere else. as for how it started, i couldn't find anything that answered my question online, so i figured this would be a good place to freakin ask. and i couldn't find an actual search area for this site!

I actually gave an answer. Plus if you do go to YouTube, you'll find out of Prince is there this week or not. It seems to change as much as Prince changes his mind about what's hot and what's not.

You have to be willing to do the work.

Hmmm, wonder what that could be? Perhaps GOING TO YOUTUBE and SEARCHING FOR PRINCE VIDEOS?

Oh, and then there's this:

I'm so tired of your posts pointing out that people have already talked about certain subjects. You're not a moderator. And besides, if no threads were allowed that had been previously talked about, this whole forum would be empty.

Didn't U know, this has been changed from Prince.org to ernest.org... or so he thinks. He claims that everyone attacks him, but he must ask why it is everyone against him?? It's always everybody elses fault...hmmm? He has to show his superiority all the time, or is it his being a jackass?? He hasn't worked in so long, being here makes him feel like he's got a real job.. like a hall monitor in school.

thats not what i said. wink

i said he issued the cease and desists because of the manner in which his fans expressed their displeasure.

i'm not saying he should've made those threats, far as i'm concerned he need to get over himself and practice what he preaches

but at the same time i dont agree that the right and privelege of freedom of speech should be abused to the point where an artist feels the need to lash out like he did

my honest opinion is that prince gets the fanbase he deserves.

p.s. if he's only 21 he's probably not doing it right.

The initial cease and desist orders came before Planet Earth was even remotely conceived.

sure, but i'm talking about the most recent ones.

i'm under the impression that whatever cease and desists were issued previously were in relation to his image and likeness being used without his permission or something along those lines?

i understand prince's point of view perfectly, even though i dont agree with his actions, just as i understand the fans and how no harm was ever intended...

but that gets blown out of the water to a degree when we read some fan responses to his work and how violent and abusive they can be.

then there are other artists who dont care at all if their fans use their image and likeness and spread videos all over youtube and say whatever they like about their fav artist.

prince and prince fans seem to be in an antagonistic relationship where nothing is ever good enough for either party.

lessons fail to be learned on both sides. prince thinks he can do whatever he wants, and so do his fans.

sort of like a bad marriage where neither really cares enough to listen to the other.

this too shall pass

No, YOU think I think that. You'd be wrong. Besides, ernest.org is already taken. DUH!

I don't think everyone attacks me. Quite the contrary. I have a LOT of friends on here, more than enemies, so you people are a minority to me; one that doesn't need any sort of special attention. You'll read what you want to read, and read into anything else to suit you. The truth is all here, and I sleep quite well at night. wave Buh-bye now.

ernest needs to get laid is all

on the topic: the most recent cease and desists that prince sent were because he didnt like his fans reaction to the planet earth album.

he considers himself a musical authority and doesnt appreciate it when his fans speak about him in such animalistic derogatory tones.

First off: I'm f*cking a (barely) 21 year old frat boy, so I'm super good in that department, but thanks for your jock-ular concern. lol brown-chicken-brown-cow tonk

I do agree about the Prince thing to some extent. I've said this before, but I'll restate it here. Prince bought into his own celebrity at some point. Sure he deserves much, if not all, the accolades he has received over the years, and perhaps there's a few he's undeservedly missed. However, his humility left him. When he started saying "I am music," or "If I want new music, I'll just make it", I knew he was going too far, for my tastes. Prince is his own authority on music, but every professional musician is to some extent. They do what they do, and they do it well (for the real musicians of course, not wannabes). They are the authority on their stuff. But in general, it's still all one big lesson. I mean, I would hope Prince is still learning things about music he didn't know before, or writing, or production. It's when he becomes complacent and too content in his knowledge of music that things began to get boring. For me, that was 2000 onward. Just a terribly boring time overall. The bright spots in the past 10 years are far and few between.

I think he got a bit too used to having his fans praise his every blink of an eye, and building statues to every wad of toilet paper he used. He used to say that he loved the interaction w/ the fans on the internet, and that's why he dove into it so early on (opposed to most other musicians). But when that interaction bit back, and he realized his fans weren't robots, that's when it began to go sour. It was a very gradual process, and he tried a few different times to make things better, newer, different, interesting - but everyone has their opinion on how that went over.

As far as the Planet Earth theory you stated: Totally false. An artist isn't going to sue people because they don't like their album. If he was that pissy, he would have not done 21 nights in London. He wouldn't have done anything. The cease and desist orders were happening way before that. I got a warning from his people ages ago, which I relished actually because it was so retarded of a situation in the first place for them to get on my jock. That was 2001/2002, so well before Planet Earth. Prince and his website people started to approach these other sites and try to coax them into becoming part of the collective that was NPGMC. They agreed to take down their sites, and have their URL's and pages point to Prince's site. It was really a slick way of getting the dumber people to bend to his demands, instead of telling him to go fuck himself (in so many words) like prince.org, or Housequake, or whatever other site.

Oh, and then there's this:

It was funny the first time...not so much now.

I agree. It's like Cartman doing his hall monitor gig while repeating the same lame joke over and over again. hammer

I think one reason Prince has a problem with his images being all over the 'net is because how they've been used for other people's gain...i.e., bootleg companies using them for covers. Some of them looked so good that they could be confused for official product and he didn't like that.

thanks luv4u...tried to tell them that, but when a fight is going many won't pay attention...

back on topic...so in 97 prince did something similar with some reason, but this last time there was none...it seems that prince has seriously lost a connection he used to have with his fans. i remember him calling us "fam", but now that feeling is dead.
