I miss Prince's sense of humor in songs/on stage?

"Are Jehovah Witnesses not allowed to be funny, because I seriously think they surgically

removed Prince's funny bone"?! I was listening to the song, "Movie Star" sounds like it could

of been done during the Parade era, but anyway, Prince was a complete fool on that song. I

miss the days when he didn't take himself too seriously on record or on the stage. I have seen

old concert videos where he's dancing/singing and making funny faces to the crowd. I wish he

would do that again, make funny faces and act silly in his songs instead of looking perpetually

evil as if he wants to sock someone in the jaw or like some stuck up middle age fancy lesbian!

P.S. The fancy lesbian bit, just quoting Wendy! lol razz wink

That was the great thing for me about all of his sexy songs; there was alot of tongue in cheek and playfulness. Prince came across also as someone who could be quite playful and humorous in the bedroom, which I think is supper-sexy.

There came a time when the risk of remaining tight in the bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom. Anais Nin.

It's unrelated to religion. I don't know why everyone targets that off the bat. We were made in the image of God, laughter is a gift.

My guess is just that Prince is maturing,.. therefore perhaps growing more protective of his aging image than in the past

"Not to sound cosmic, but I've made plans for the next 3,000 years," he says. "Before, it was only three days at a time."

i think 'everybody loves me' is funny, so is 'elixer'.

2 fine examples of prince's recent humor.

eye will ALWAYS think of prince like a "ACT OF GOD"! N another realm. eye mean of all people who might of been aliens or angels.if found out that prince wasn't of this earth, eye would not have been that surprised. R.I.P. prince

Prince shows humor in lots of ways, most recently in 2010. He has such an original way lol of phrasing his lyrics always clever, funny and catchy. cool Prince never fails to put a smile on my face.

"The scene you remember most is none of em," .. "don't you think I ain't when I am.. Sticky like Glue' and who else but Prince would sing something like 'I know we're dysfuctional' in a heart song? lol

On The Couch

Recent tracks that are very much tongue-in-cheek, or contain funny moments. One of Prince's most underated qualities in his music is his humor.

There's plenty of humour on the Aladdin DVD and he was well and truly a JW by then.

That - and the bit about his mom sending him to the store for cigarettes and tampons. lol

I think that you are all correct in saying that he has had many funny lines in songs over the years. However, I can't think of a song that is just too funny, line after line like many of the songs on the B-side. I mean can you sing the words to " Feel YOU UP" without laughing? Same for Horney Toad, Scarlett Pussy and others.
