German - Rolling Stone Interview

Has it been translated into English? I have looked but came up with nothing,

and from what I have heard it seems to be one of the more interesting ones this year.

I'd love to see a translation too. My sister just arrived for a visit from Berlin, and brought me a copy, but she doesn't read German, so we're no further ahead. It's one of the lenghtiest pieces in a quite a while, yet no can has bothered to do that? Strange!

I copy a few quotes of Prince of his interview with the German Rolling Stone, which I translated for another thread here:

Some Quotes: "Alien expectations are not relevant to me. My world is working to other criterions."

"Young Artists don´t need any gatekeeper. Hendrix even got London before his first recording."

Prince is improvising on his piano: "you know, this is holy to me!" He shouts. "Music shall release the spirit, take us to the next step (Level). Trying to get higher and staying there! (<Original in english) And if it loses this drive, if it gets shallow and predictable.." he is gesticulating - with his left hand- a curve going down",...then I´LL lose the interest immediately. Without music the world would be such a static, stationary place!"

"YOu have to invent your harmonies by yourself! Wendy and Lisa taught me that."

I don't understand how we don't yet have a full translation.... as far as I can see we don't even have a full German transcription that we could feed into Google Translate... it wouldn't be a perfect translation but we'd be able to catch the gist of what's being said.

German fans where are you?

I am German and there is no need to translate the whole article..it's way too long! And he doesn't talk about anything we don't already know. The most interesting part for me however was that he mentioned he had plans to remodel and reopen Paisley Park to the public again. He talked about the return of the Paisley Park parties and he wanted to do something for the public to realize that he had definitely returned to Minneapolis. And yeah, that he was bored by the internet and pretty much done with it, so I guess we don't have to expect a new Prince site. And Bria wasn't mentioned once in the entire long-ass article. He was being portayed, and I quote as "Prince the lonely king of Minneapolis who wants to save the world with the power of music"

I think this time he is really serious about keeping his love life private and off limits. Usually he flaunts his women and makes sure that everyone knows that it's the right one this time and how happy he is. I think with age he is becoming more cautious when it comes to the woman in his life after 2 unsuccessful marriages. Wise move...maybe he knows by now that everything that glitters ain't gold!

I think there is a need to translate the whole article. Well, the important things. What about the Batman project with MJ, and the gibe at Andre 3000?

agreed.

OK, why don't we make a plan? Here's what I suggest:

We grab a scan of the article.

A bunch of orgers chip in to transcribe the text. If we all did a few paragraphs, we'd make light work of it.

Then we feed it all through Google Translate to at least get a rough translation, assuming any German orgers don't want to translate it.

He doesn´t want an outsider to produce him. "Andre?" Prince asks amused. "Nothing against him, he is a great rapper, but is he a musician, too?" The Batman project question was already topic of another thread, "Was the Batman LP planned 2 B a Prince/MJ project?" and Prince´s quote translated.
