If "20Ten" has no US release, is this a first for a major US artist?

And let me stop you before you start with your "LOL, Prince isn't a major US artist". Keep that Kool-Aid out of my kitchen.

So the question is, has any other major US artist released a new album overseas but not in the US?

I can't think of any of my favorite artists that have released full, brand-new albums elsewhere but not in their home country.

So I guess Prince breaks new ground again. sad

No, I think some US-based artists have had their albums released overseas. I know Jody Watley's "Flower" was released in Europe only because the U.S. had problems releasing it there, same with Amerie's "Because I Love It". So "20Ten" is not even significant in that sense plus Prince has struck no deal to release the album here, plus it was released in France, UK, Portugal, Belgium and Germany as a covermount in newspapers and tabloid rags.
