Paisley Park

I'm going to be in Minneapolis next week for work and have some downtime and a rental car. I was thinking of going to Paisley Park just to see it, I don't expect anything but wanted to see if anyone has been by there. Can you see the house or the grounds? Are they blocked by fencing?

Just trying to figure out if it is worth it to go over there. I just want to take a few pictures and to say "I was there"

Any advice?

Paisley Park is not a house, it's just a big ass while building on the corner of Audobon Rd and Arboretum Blvd (Highway 5) in Chanhassen. You can't miss it. It's on the southeast corner. Audobon is the side street, whereas Arboretum is the main road.

There is rod iron fencing, but you can see through it. Be prepared for a security guard to yell at you that you can't take pictures of the building. Let him know it's America, and you can take a picture of whatever you wish, whether you're on the grounds or not.

No idea where Prince's house/home is anymore. Both his homes on Kiowa Trail and Galpin Blvd have been torn down long ago. Galpin is about a mile from P.P., but not a lot to see from the road, other than a guard house.

Head back west on highway 5 and turn north (right) onto Galpin, which is your next right. The yellow house's property is up there, but the house itself is not. It's about 3/4 of a mile up. If you go a mile, you went a tad too far. It's on your right. Hell, you can see more on maps.live.com or Google Earth. There's probably still a guard house there. But for a Prince fan, of course it's worth the pilgrimage.

(Remember when Prince mentioned "a disturbance on Galpin" in "Zanalee"?

And that he has a song called "Arboretum" on the One Nite Alone CD. Just random notes here.)

Not to sound pedantic, but the yellow house was white with black trim when it was leveled ("Big White Mansion - Emancipation).

Could be. I only knew it as a yellow house, and others had always referred to it as yellow.

Thanks for the info! I'll be sure to take pictures and report back. Any other suggestions of Prince spots I should hit up while over there?

So I went to Paisley Park today!!! The gate was open and I was able to drive in. There was no one there so I was able to walk around the front a bit. It looks a bit run down but it was great to be there. I snapped a pic with my phone and took a lot more on my camera. I was about to get in closer to snap pics inside when a few cars that looked like they belonged came in, so I took off. It was cool to be there. Couldn't believe that the place was right off the main road. So accessible!

I was able to peek inside the front through the main doors. There was a hallway that was painted in wild colors. Doesn't seem like he uses the place much anymore.

The circular building is looking really run down. Paint is chipping.

I was able to pull up right in front of the studio, I knew it was the studio because there was a sign that said so. I did a little happy dance and went on my way.

So glad I was able to get inside the gates!!!!

I want to post the pic, can't figure out how to. Can someone tell me?
