D&P is in my all-time Top 10 from Prince. Seriously.

Enjoy.

It wouldn't make my Top 20 although I like the song and think it is definitely beautiful.

That is in the top 5 CHEESIEST Prince moments ever.

But nothing is cheesier than the embarrassment 'Cream.'

Cream has kind of a good 12-inch version. Arms of Orion and Jughead are way more embarrassing that Cream IMO.

Cream? great pop song that's a modernist nod to T-Rex.

I'm kinda surprised how much opinions are divided with this song. Some calling it his best, some saying it's one of his worst. Whaaaaaat? lol

Then again someone said they hated "Little Red Corvette". Not to compare the two because obviously LRC is superior but damn lol

It's only superior if that's your opinion on it. Personally, I'd rather listen to Diaminds and Pearls than Little Red Corvette. Not gonna lie.

I wouldn't get too hung up on the opinions on the org anyway as this group of fans tends to be the more analytical, micromanaging, projecting type of fans than anything else.

I've always appreciated how neat this song was, but yesterday I pulled out my "D&P" sheet music because I was noodling around with the bridge and had forgotten the lines.

I'd also forgotten that song has FOUR different time signatures. It's mainly in 4/4, but switches to 2/4, 3/4 and 5/4 in various parts.

Wow, that's so far over my head. Awesome.

Funny this thread surfaced, last Friday en route to work the Special Olympics from 91' came on & at 1st I was gonna skip it, but didn't & gave it some volume only to suddenly realize how great a performance that was of a song I pretty much shitted on for years!

Everyone is entitled to a opinion but you are just....mean

I guess your opinion of my being mean is just that - an opinion.

Regardless, (and back on topic) the song isn't underrated and has nothing to do with religion or Bible Thumpers or whatever. Stop trippin.

can you please jump on the intelligence train and never come back thanks.

I was forced into liking it because they played it on the radio at that time CONSTANTLY. I was practically sick of it and didn't listen to it for a long time. Upon revisiting it a few months ago it's much more enjoyable I guess because I'm not forced to listen to it. Rosie's voice compliments the song beautifully and I can even get with the D to the I to the A to the M lyrics.

It's cheesy, the lyrics are dumb and worst of all - Prince's hair looked so effin' GAY in 1991. Not to mention his pajama-pants hump boys.

I can't let that shit slide.

Nah, that song is either a homage to or rip off of T Rex's "Bang A Gong". So "Sha boogie bop" is either an homage to or rip off of "Bang a gong".

I think it's an incredible homage of a song. But others think it's a rip-off.

i love when he says "look up in the ayer its your guitar" and then that oh so delicate little guitar line comes in .. he plays it so soft and sweet .. those are the times i dont mind the perfectionist over production .. that song is so smooth he could be singing

i took a shit

now im out of toilet paper

this is it

i'm gonna have to wipe much later

and i probably wouldnt even notice cuz the music is so smoothe

meh maybe worst lyrics up to that date but still worlds better hearing about wet circles around a toy or i got somethin u wont know handle u can say uh uh

or that first line in guitar

i think the lyrics are playful and fun in a cool way as opposed a really awkward way like his more recent work where he is trying to sound cool

cream is good stuff .. sounded great acoustic on musicology tour too
