There's a ridiculous amount of unneccesary hating on Ernest right now. I was one of the multiple Orgers who had heard this music library funk track dozens of times before, specifically on a Comcast commercial. I understand why you might think it sounds like Prince, OP, because it kind of does. But some people, myself included, know library music when we hear it.

And is it even a real commercial? That's the question. It looks very made up and retarded. It's obvious that the music isn't Prince, of course. Very stock, like you said. Hell, I hear Garageband loops on everything from cat food to insurance commercials.

you guys make me laugh, are u guys in the know to state that it's not prince? point is, sure it's something funky, and being an advertising for prince's new album, it would make sense it's prince. I so want someday all show-offs would be proved wrong...

That's not necessarily true, never has been. How many times has a Prince album been dropped in stores with NO promotion?

It's not Prince, and even CerptinTaxt even said he heard the same loop in another commercial. Don't make it into something it's not. It doesn't have to be a Prince song, and I still question the validity of the "commercial" itself.

I have this crazy theory that when 20Ten eventually gets a US/international retail release, it'll be a fuller record. It's a bit of a short album as is; some of the songs seem to be oddly structured, or end prematurely. Plus, at the end of Laydown, Prince states "Euro and soon Amero" before the song abrubtly ends. Foreshadowing?

Perhaps the later, more mainstream releases of 20Ten will have more songs.

Being that the current incarnation is free and seemingly promotional, it'd make sense.

biggrin

I was one of the multiple Orgers who had heard this music library funk track dozens of times before, specifically on a Comcast commercial. I understand why you might think it sounds like Prince, OP, because it kind of does. But some people, myself included, know library music when we hear it.

Further, almost all advertising up until this point has had Prince in the forefront. The radio ad made it clear that you were hearing tracks from 20ten. The Verizon commercial for "Guitar" made sure you knew that this was a Prince track and you were being sold Prince's image and music via the commercial.

It becomes hard to believe that Prince would tack on his music at the end of an advertisement for his music that focuses more on recent social/political events than his actual music. I think that the newspaper company was given creative control when it came to the commercial, granted they say certain things approved by Prince's camp that would provide a clear advertisement of the album. So, this newspaper company, or maybe the newspaper company's marketing or PR company, came up with this commercial on a tight budget in a limited amount of time. We know that Prince is picky about who he lets use his music. It doesn't make sense that he would let this company take his music and put it in the commercial when he probably didn't even know what the finished result would look like.

SO, whoever made the commercial had to throw in something funky...a little earworm that'll stick in your head for a minute and give you vague hints of sounding like Prince, reminding you why yo udig that kind of music and why you should go out and buy the newspaper "THIS SATURDAY ONLY." It's a way to get a vibe across without paying money for the real thing and sell the idea. Hence, library music.

I'm through.

Hmm.

I said it once, and I'll say it again: I think the track sounds -awesome.- In terms of deriving enjoyment from any piece of music, I generally could care less of its origins. However, this was featured in a Prince ad and I thought it highly bizarre that the music playing in the commercial was somehow not representative of the album being sold. I still think that's atrocious marketing.

However, I digress. Your testimony provides strong evidence suggesting that this is NOT Prince. This is exactly the kind of explanatory post I was looking for. Thank you.

Oh, and in regard to Ernest, it is my belief that any hate he receives is most often initiated by his own derogatory attitude toward pretty much...everything. It gets old *REAL* fast.

A lot of people said that the instrumental track of "There'll never b another like me" wasn't Prince either when Prince first put it out there before Lotusflow3r was released. But look what happen it was. Prince would not allow a newspaper that he is using to distribute his new album to use a fake track of music that is not him. Just because Ernest said its not him doesn't mean anything. Who is Ernest? Just a regular person. His word means nothing to me.

Yeah what was tha song anyways. Sounds like classic prince.

You can bullshit all day and gulp your Hater-ade, but I'm right. It ain't a Prince song. Others here seem to understand that, so either you think the same of them as you do me, or your intentions are purely personal and unfounded on me, or your kind is just blind to the truth. I'm going with an unhealthy combination of all three, given the source. Either way, it ain't a Prince song. Never has been, never will be.

Yes he would. It would mean that they weren't besmirching his good name by including one of his "babies" in such an awful ad. You know nothing about advertising.

Can you blame people for thinking Never Be Another wasn't Prince? It sounds terrible.

Sir, the title of this thread posed a *question.* I have never once claimed that the track was, in all certainty, Prince's. I merely said that it *appears* to be this way.

Then I mentioned the fact that if this indeed *was* his song, I would have enjoyed giving it a listen on the album.

I do admit that I shouldn't have criticized you as I did, so I apologize for that. It was immature. However, I do feel that it would be in your best interest to lighten up a bit. Because the fact of the matter is: Prince doesn't give a damn about you, me, this post, or this website. He truly does not.

No need to be so disparaging.

Daily Mirror: Hey Prince, we've just made a "hilarious" advert for your new album, with a crappy member of the English royal family. Any chance of some exclusive music for it?

Prince: Sure!

When this was first posted, an orger said that it was not part of the album, just stock music for the TV spot. The orger was sure it was part of a stock music comp he had heard before.

This would make the fact that so many faMs find the track so amazing compared to 20Ten...well,,... it would just make that fact absolutely hilarious.

Prince.org where Prince fans come to hate on other Prince fans... what a lovely thing! Why don't people here just not comment on a thread if they don't like it. I'm sure that the moderators will take off anything that is no good. As a site, it is equal opportunity for everyone to post what they want as long as it doesn't go against policy. Other than that, just move on to a thread that you can actually contribute to and stop hating each other. This is exactly why someone like Prince would never come here... there is too much hate and negativity, no matter who is posting what! Somebody has to say something to someone else to show that they are smarter or more important than they really are. Why? Why? Why??? So stupid!

Being smart and important has nothing to do it. If someone posts something which is clearly incorrect, it is reasonable for others to correct it.

And as this site is used as a source for information about Prince, I don't see the argument for "equal opportunity" for those posting misinformation, and then getting angry/upset when anyone dares to say so.

U are so right. Prince has some of the meanest nastiest "so-called fans" I've ever encountered on here. They just get off on putting other people down. One in particular act like he is a teacher and the other people are his students. So U better listen to him or else U will go to detention..He knows who he is to.....

Who here is in Prince's camp to decide what information is correct or incorrect? Let the moderators do the correcting, other people just trying to put their two cents in is just silly... and to go on and on about it! Please... Stop hating. Plus, if something is incorrect, does it take every Prince specialist to ring in on it?

I'm curious now, as I haven't seen the commercial. Can someone provide a link, if allowed on this site, to the commercial? If this track everyone's talking about is as good as people are saying I'm interested in listening to it. If it is "library stock" how difficult is it to obtain?
