I don't know if this has been posted already, but I was just at Target and they have the LotusFlow3r 3CD set on sale for 99 cents. The one I went to had a lot in stock still.

I thought $4.99 was low when I saw it a few months ago, but 99 CENTS? Sad, especially considering that LotusFlow3r (the single disc) is one of my favorites in a long time. MPLSound, I could take about 1/2 of. Elixer, not my thing.

So, anyone wanting to stock up - check it out.

99 cents? I got ripped off. I just bought 3 copies of it at Target for $1.99 each the other day.

And when you look on the back of the package, it says sign up for lotusflow3r and get a t-shirt. But... that site is already dead. smile

That is an insane price. I would be buying 2 or 3 copies at that price.

Lotus (3 disc set) ranges from £15-35 in the UK.

Maybe I'll go pick up a few and send them to my UK friends. smile

Do you have UK friends? Do you have friends Ernest? Do you dou you?

Joke

I love you really

I said "if there was a resonable way to ship them overseas" it'd be great to buy something for a dollar and sell it for 20x. However, to my knowledge " a reasonable" price doesn't exist, plus advertising, and no guarantee of sales.

I've ordered one of those TOIOU BD/DVD sets (http://thisoneisonus.org/), and paid something like $15. That's $15 for a pressed Blu-ray + two pressed DVDs plus a professionally printed booklet, sent to my home, i.e. that price includes the costs for all that plus shipping. I seriously doubt more than a couple of bucks went to USPS.

Just looked at eBay: the sets being sold there have shipping costs that range from $5-$10 to Europe.

But there are a ton of those sets, and it doesn't seem they're selling well.

The one I'm speaking of is Troy, Michigan -- Maple(15 Mile) and Coolidge -- if anyone is familiar. This was Tuesday night. If they have a price-matching policy, you could reference this store.

I already bought 2 copies at 11.98 originally, so I didn't buy any more. Not interested in selling them online, but it's a good idea.

That's my neck of the woods but I won't be buying them because I'd mark them up $76.00. Hey, Prince did it! evillol

I knew from the start that I loved you with all my heart.

At my Target today, they were marked at $4.99, but apparently there has been a rush on Prince because there was only one LotusFlow3r, and nothing else.

I'd pay 2,99 $ for Lotus, and if Prince wanted me to listen to MplS and Elixer, he should give me, at least, 20 $, couple of duds barf

I just got back from my local Target, where I purchased 3 copies for 99 cents each. They probably had about 20 more but they said three was the limit.

Hopefully folks will pick this up and give it a spin. Would be nice for more casual fans to check it out and actually get interested in Prince's more recent music. "Lotusflow3r" is a terrific record and it deserves far more attention than it got.

I'm somewhat jealous - I've yet to see it drop below £30 in the UK stores, and I keep waiting for it to lower in price before picking it up.

99 cents? I'd own about 10 of them! biggrin

So look into the mirror, do u recognise some1? Is it who u always hoped u would become, when u were young?

I was a member of Lotusflow3r.com for my sins, so I downloaded them from there.

I'll pick up the physical copies one day soon, I'm sure.

I'm in Edinburgh, prices vary in our main Hmv store. You can pick Lotus up on Ebay for cheaper than £30. Still, 99p would be nice. lol

It's funny that you can pick up a new copy of it so cheap. Every used wrecka stow I go in sells it anywhere from $7 to $15. I haven't had the heart to tell them yet that it can be bought new for cheaper (although I'm sure they already know).

Yeah, we kind of hate to see Target just liquidiating this CD. But let's remember that it is no reflection on the quality of the music, just circumstances of the deal he had with Target.

I'm pretty sure the manufacturer over produced the CDs. It would be more cost effective for them to produce too many than too few. And let's face it: was Prince ever going to sell more than, what 200,000 copies of this CD, if that even? Still, at $12 a piece, I think Target probably made its money and then some. What's going on now - $.99 each -is just trying to get the remainders out the door.

I bought many a copy of Around the World in a Day, Parade, Madhouse 8, Mazarati, The Family on cassette and LP for $1.00-$4.00 during the late 80s from cut-out bins. The point is, Lotusflow3r for $.99 is not a reflection on the quality of the music, but rather on the way it was marketed.

Target in the Hilliard area of Columbus OH has em at 2.99. I grabbed one and gonna keep it in plastic for when my first copy falls apart. If it gets to 99 cents I'll grab a bunch. Eventually it will be out of print and then I'll have a stash to swap for other goodies. That seems to happen with one-store-only realeases. Walmart has a bunch of those by Bryan Adams, REO Speedwagon.. always in their discount bins.

The best part was when she rang up $2.99.. with tax it came to 319 smile

Yeah I think Prince probably got paid up front for so many copies.. so now whatever's left target is stuck with either to put in a warehouse or sell now. Since they tend to only have shelf space for the most popular album or 2 and the most current album by someone, they would save the space for "Very best of" and "Ultimate" which they seem to have lots of.

It's kinda sad. That values each cd at 33 1/3 cents. I mean i know I dog some of the tracks on it, but it didn't suck by any means. It wasn't a Jonas Brothers album. It wasn't William Hung. It was some decent music and a lot of it for $12. back in the day I'd pay that for an import cd single with a rare b-side and I forget that quickly. But i do think one-store-only promos are almost always a bad idea.

So I was at Target today to get the new Arcade Fire CD and out of curiosity, I checked the price of Lotusflow3r. It is only 99¢ as an in-store "Temporary Price Cut" - not advertised on their website. So I grabbed 3 more. I guess since it's OOP, someone may want a sealed copy some day and you can't beat that price.
