20TEN is available. The fact that some people believe themeselves to be above buying something from ebay does not make it impossible to get.. It is now the year 2010. Nothing is excuisive or rare anymore.

If Prince does not want to release the disc in the US, then let the man be. It's not about what an admirer of his music wants. It's about how much Prince will get paid. He is not a supernatural being with the abilities to discard any temptation lesser mortals might have to live with. He is a simple - although pretentious - human being, and he's just as greedy as the rest of us that have inhabited, inhabit or will inhabit this world. The more money he can make- and remember that the money he makes now is nothing compared to the money he was getting back in the day, no matter what he or his worshippers say - the better for him. I just find it weird that people hang on to his every word as it was gospel. It's okay to watch youtube. You're not a bad person for doing so. If his CD is not available in your country and has not been announced, then it is not a crime to get it from overseas. I can understand those that are against downloading torrents and such, but hey...

I love the mans music, but his fans sometimes ruin it for me. The man is prolific, but he is not a musical genius. Good songs show up at least once in every album, but great songs are few and far between. Quantity does not equal quality.

Prince is not a musical genius? Do you consider any artist from the last 30 years to be a musical genius or is that classification extinct?

I realize there is no way of knowing for sure, but does it still make sense to try and order 20ten from The Daily Mirror, weeks later? How many could have gone unsold? Just wondering. Thanks.

Thursday I played 2010 for a friend of mine who is not a Prince fan. He is mainly into inernational underground punk rock. After he listened to it he asked me to burn him a copy. His very words were, " I can't believe that is a new Prince cd. All the new stuff you played for me over recent years was not that good. That's as tight as Controversy. " This was from someone who really is not a fan at all. Prince really needs to put this out in the USA, and promote it heavily. This could be a hit if promoted the right way.

/\ I had the same thing happen last night. Played "Lavaux" and "Laydown" to a friend who's a Bowie fan and he was loving it.

Yes, because everyone cannot go to E-Bay and order one eek

Sure, eBay will work for some people. But eBay is not a record label, or a periodical, or a music store. eBay is second hand (whether it's still new in the package or not). It's ordering from over seas (for most people who don't have access to it). It's ordering from people you don't know. And believe it or not, there are A LOT of people who don't use eBay. The point about more people having access to the internet than record stores is quite valid (although it always makes me sad because we have a truckload of them in the Bay Area). However, a lot of people who have access to the interent DON'T download music illegally. Really, it's true. So until 20ten is OFFICIALLY released to someplace where it can be ordered online (physically or as a download), it's only received a partial UNOFFICIAL release in the states. It just makes no sense on Prince's part. It's not released, but really, it is.

the e-bay source i tried was sold out

I got my two copies from Ebay, and it was not expensive at all. The guy I bought mine from had dozens, and his rating was very high with a lot of good comments for shipping, packaging the product, etc. I do wish that it were released here, and if it were I would love for it to have liner notes, lyrics, etc. I know I can just google the lyrics, but it's just cooler to hold the cd and read it while the songs play.

It is not extinct. There are some. Jack White is one that comes immediately to mind. He puts out a tremendous amount of music with three different bands and others that are signed to his label that is consistently good. There are quite a few others but I can't think of them at the moment. But like I stated before, Prince is prolific. Tremendously so, but that does not a genius make. He's had a lot of great songs, but he's not consistent.

Now, before this turns into a big F U discussion, I am only stating my opinion. That does not make me right or wrong. Doesn't make you right or wrong either. My tastes in music are not entirely yours. the only artist we may agree upon is Prince, but we can all agree to disagree.

I love Jack White, but he's a genius and Prince isn't? I see your disclaimer about opinons dude, but that's just nuts.

In my opinion, the more time that passes, the less sense it makes to release 20ten in the U.S. Considering the fact that it can be downloaded all day, everyday and if you really want a disc, it can be obtained. I think -if it is released (in any configuration)- it could go the way of Lotusflow3r once the hard-core fans get a copy or 2.

I gave up on an official jewel case-ish release and made my own. Used the news clippings, concert photos, and the cardboard greeting card cover and made my own much more legit looking cover with a see through jewel case so it actually doesnt disappear into my cd collection smile
