king of eyeliner !!

but i agree with you too

Being the king of eyeliner lol (as well as foundation and eyeshadow let's not forget those) it makes perfect sense to me that Prince would prefer a made-up woman.

But Prince or no Prince, just in general. It irks me that natural women often have this attitude toward women who like to enhance. Oddly enough those women get picked on/criticized/pittied/dismissed, more often than not, during some supposedly pro-woman rant. lol

Aside from Susannah. I've never seen any of his women in a natural/relaxed demeanor.

maybe she knows that Prince is just using her, but she convinces herself it can only be a good thing.

maybe she doesnt have what it takes to break out of convention, or his constant lies.

maybe she's addicted to the attention she's getting but can't shake the empty feeling she gets inside.

maybe she's just lonely and figures that hanging out with Prince is better than nothing.

maybe she figures it makes her "special" but she's too dumb to put 2 and 2 together.

maybe she thinks sex is love and her soul is slowly rotting away inside.

who knows...

this too shall pass

Of course there's a difference between enhancing and heavy makeup. The difference is the amount of product applied and what someone's personal tastes might be. Some people prefer a dramatic look. So my question is: how exactly does it reflect on anyone and whose business is it? biggrin

She is a public figure, yes. I will give you that.

But how does wearing dramatic makeup reflect on her? Other than it's what she likes and chooses to wear? You might be audience to it, but it's her business if she wants to and chooses to wear it.

Also, there's a big difference between wanting to and having the right to talk trash about folk because they are public, and their lives actually being your/our business.

It's not only the amount of product, but how it's applied. The dramatic/drag queen look is not subtly trying to enhance your natural features. For special occasions or on stage it's one thing, but to coat your poor skin in the shit every day isn't good. (I'm not saying this specifically about her, just in general btw...)

To me, it reflects on the person wearing it and says they aren't very comfortable in their own skin. I think most men in general, find heavy makeup unnecessary and sometimes even gross. There's women who won't even let their man see them without it nor go out of the house without putting the war paint on and to me that's sad. If someone doesn't love your naked face, fuck them.

As for whose business it is, that's really a moot question since we're on a discussion board talking about someone who has made her business our business.

How is her business our business? Are we family? Friends even?

Making the assumption that someone who likes heavy makeup is insecure is no different than making the assumption that someone who wants to be bare-faced just doesn't give a shit about how she looks.

In the end it's about personal taste and preference.

Too bad folk can't just accept and let folk just be. We always gotta talk some shit to lift our own damn selves. lol

Geezus, her stupid makeup isn't her "business", it's not like we're hacking into her checking account and blabbing about it.

You're right, it's personal taste and preference, if you like a fake look, go for it! I prefer people who are concerned about their internal being - not putting paint on the exterior and worrying about what others think.

I don't know what your problem is, but I didn't say anything about her makeup in the first place. I answered your question about the difference of subtly enhancing your looks with makeup as opposed to caking the shit on every day.

I don't have a problem. lol

Well it does irk me some when folk pass judgment on women who enjoy their makeup and make assumptions that they must not care about their internal selves, only care about what others think and of course must be insecure.

But you didn't do that. My bad.

Of course I was speaking generally and with a picture in my head of these girls that go to the extreme with the big ugly fake eyelashes, tons of foundation, dark eyeshadow and god awful red lipstick ALL THE TIME. Those types like it for the attention they get (insecurity) or because they think something is wrong with them. My main point is, THEY DON'T NEED TO DO IT. If they do it occasionally for fun, then whatever. But to think they're ugly without it is the problem.

I also have a big problem with cosmetic companies making women think they need all this crap, their product pricing and all the chemicals that we poison our bodies with upon each use. But that's a whole 'nother discussion. lol

I assume that's a smartass way of saying Bria looks like a drag queen (I've made many a "tranny" joke before myself).

Why does this bother you so and how does it affect you personally?

I know you and Serena probably think I'm fuckin with y'all or crashin your Bria-hatin party or something, but it's something I am, in all honesty, curious about.

I'm asking the questions but I'm just getting a drag queen pic which just translates to name-calling.

Nobody needs to do anything. Are there women who wear a lot of makeup because of insecurity, sure. Are there a lot of women who don't wear any because they just don't care about their appearance (not a healthy thing either), sure. Are there a lot of confident women who wear make up, sure. Are there a lot of insecure women who don't. You bet. Wearing it or not is not definitive of anything.

I happen to know a lot of women who don't think they're ugly or are insecure. They just happen enjoy makeup. To a lot of women, makeup is fun just like clothes, shoes and accesories. I also happen to know women who don't wear any and are extremely down on themselves.

As for me being 'hateful' towards Bria, I've not been in the least. The only thing I've ragged on is the stupid postings that are made here by her and/or her minions. I even actually liked her album, although that was mainly due to Prince's music, but her voice was ok on it.

btw...I'm done with the makeup conversation, you just don't get what I'm trying to say, so I guess I'm not explaining myself well or something.
