Pure genius. Yellow Submarine meets Let's Go Crazy. It does qualify as a special ed anthem, but ask yourself, what's wrong with that, you got some HATE for special ed kids? Prince was kinda one of them. This song absolutely amazes me. It takes huge balls to sing those lyrics and amazing skill to pull it off. This is writing on a par with the Beatles in their heyday. It'll find it's forum as a fun sing-along somewhere for sure. NBA games, schools, birthday parties, it's going to outlive us all. Hell, it's basically Happy Birthday To You! lol, now he's literally done it all!

Yes, I absolutely agree with this. I think people who dis it have issues themsleves with expressing emotion. Anything that's emotional makes them feel uncomfortable.

Shut up already, damn.

I will never like this song. And the amount of love I have for MOST of the rest of the album will NEVER blind me into thinking this song is good. It's not.

To each their own. But in my world it's just a bit of crap. Which will make it a perfect time to take a bathroom break if I ever see him play it live.

We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

I'm listening to it now and damnit I like this silly song! lol It's fun and playful and yeah, it's funky. I'm bouncing at my desk listening to this feeling good and happy. biggrin

I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

Upon first listen I was like WTF but after a couple of times I couldn't help but smile and sing along. He's got balls putting it on an album but has done similar before like Wedding Feast. It's very much Tongue in cheek like the rap in Sticky Like Glue, good to see him not taking himself serious sometimes

It doesn't really matter how goofy all the lyrics are, every song on here is musically addictive. This reminds me of the old days when I listened to every song on his albums over and over.

Nope. It's pretty silly. I'm not much into Prince's songs about himself being the best of the best all time...even that it's probably true that everybody loves him... smile

I can't get this damn song out of my head now confused

I think it wouldn't be sooo bad, if it didn't have the casio-keyboard processed voice on it. The other layered vocals would've been sufficient.

(Please let me state that this is my opinion and in no way is it an instruction to the rest of you to agree, so no persecution please lol)

What are you talking about? confused First of all, I didn't say PRINCE was crap. I just feel quite confidently that this is one of the worst songs he's ever officially released. Second, All You Need Is Love represents an entire era and a cultural movement. Do you really think Everybody Loves Me is going to do the same? Because from where I'm listening all it represents is narcacism, his usual odd sense of humor and lazy songwriting.

Everybody loves Wiiiiiiiiis! New Nintendo commercial.

This is a brilliant song. I could play it 100x straight and never get tired of it, just like No More Candy 4 U. I love this New Wave sh*t! I just drove to Wendy's and back, blasted this the entire time, and it made me feel like I was back in the year 1982. 10 out of 10.

agree, has that new wave 50's rock feel of Turn It Up (1982 outtake)

I totally agree. I love this track. Reminds of something done around Dirty Mind or Controversy. I love how people say how weak the lyrics are then go and jam out to Gotta Stop Messin About or Horny Toad lol

Prince may be the purple Yoda, but Wendy & Lisa and Eric Leeds also sit on the Jedi Council.

Some. Some people. Because I don't jam Gotta Stop Messin About or Horny Toad. So at least I'm consistent. lol In fact, I rarely listen to most of Dirty Mind and Controversy. Only the few tracks that I really like ever get listened to, and those not very often. A lot of the oldest Prince albums (pre-1999) sound outdated (to me) and have really weak mixes. That's why they need to be re-mastered.

The pre-1999 albums don't sound so dated to me because I had them as they were released and they take me back to that time when they were new. And nothing at the time sounded like these records so when I heard Everybody Loves Me I was back in the good ol days! cool

Erm...

Forgive me if this has already been posted, but does anyone notice that this song (in addition to several other songs) samples from his older material?

This thing seems like he built a song on top of underlying tracks from the song "Dirty Mind"...You can hear it more clearly at the 3:42 minute marker (and continuing till the end of the song). It's not as blatant as Compassion, which samples "Lets Pretend We're married", but it *is* audible.

I've seen this opinion from a few folks, and I don't think he sampled anything from the past on this album. It's a LinnDrumm or LM-1 being used, and if he happened 2 create some beats that sound like earlier ones, it was likely intentional...

I hear how U hear "Dirty Mind" in "Everybody Loves Me", but I just don't think anything was sampled.

Same goes 4 "Compassion"... The beat is reminescent, but not sampled.

I think people are talking about the synth in the background. It has the same sound as the synth in Dirty Mind and Private Joy. It's not a sample, it's just a synth playing. And the Linn is awesome! I'm glad it's back.

I heart Stefani Germanotta.

Yes, I had often wondered why he never uses the Linn, he could always do some of the coolest work with it.

Er.. I don't know what to say about this one. It's like the remedial cousin of No More Candy 4 U. On prozac.

I should hate it, but for some reason, it just makes me laugh.
