Jamie Lidell: well well well. It's not every day that you get to meet one of your idols..tonight I "met" two! prince AND quincy jones were in the backstage at the gig after janelle monae's superb show here at the Montreux jazz festival... so weird. I didn't exchange "words" with prince but I think he was jealous of my outfit... fair enough. it IS banging! ha. To be honest it still hasn't sunk in. cue the freaky dreams.... Agreed. Metropolis, and The ArchAndroid, and 3 parts of a 4 part suite she has conceived. You'll notice on the album covers, four dots on the lower right corner. They're shaded into show what Suite you're on. Metropolis is Suite 1. ArchAndroid is 2 and 3. In fact, you can split the album down the middle, and just listen to either Suite 2 or Suite 3 on its own. Each one starts with it's own "Overture", as a point of reference.
Suite 4 is still to be released, but I would imagine we won't see/hear it until sometime in summer 2011 at the earliest. Just a guess though.

I find Janelle Monae exciting, interesting, talented, energetic... but...
and I'm not hating here...
But there is just something... annoying looking about her.
And it's not that she's a little weird and kooky. God knows, half the musicians I'm into are eclectic "weirdos"...
Maybe its her hair or facial expressions...
But she's just...
annoying looking.
