Maybe this is why Prince does what he does.

Interesting article on how and how much an artist can get paid for their music. I can see why Prince wants to cut the red tape. I have to admit, his methods may seem unorthodox but at least he is thinking outside the box. Anyway, read the article and see what you think.

Yeah, the only people who actually get paid in this game are the ones at the top of the corporate pyramid who own everything and the lawyers in between those f#ckers and the actual artist.

Prince may have been heavy handed during his career, but I understand why.

Prince does what he does because he cannot get paid exactly what he thinks he should be paid each and every time someone listens to his music.

He releases music from an upfront fee "free" with a newspaper, but the music is marginally inspired.

His concerts are becoming more and more "Classic hits" shows, so that the bootlegs are "more of the same". Sure, go ahead, pass them around digitally. It's what he's willing to part with for what he's been paid.

I've come to the understanding that Prince does what he does for the $$. Period. End of story.

Does he have more in him? Can he produce another "classic"? Be innovative and ground breaking? I think yes, but he's like the kid that owns the baseball. He's going to leave the playground and take the ball home until the whole field plays by his rules.

So be it. I'll get what enjoyment I can out of the crumbs he's tossing out and listen to the stuff he released before he "wised up" and "fixed" everything.

he already made his point on all this many years ago. we get it already. be independent. release your music the way you want.

is he not aware of how many artists are doing what he said? or is it more the case that this is all about Prince and Prince doing what he wants?

seriously, if his original intent was to free other artists, then how come he doesnt see how many listened?

or was this whole 'be independent' thing simply about himself from the get go?

and now he's just hung-up on it cuz he cant let go of his sense of entitlement?

and how much money does he need exactly?

should excessively wealthy people be using the internet to get more profit, then COMPLAIN when they dont get it?

"they wont pay me an advance" ?? oh poor you!

not happy with everything the UNIVERSE has given you already Prince?

complain complain complain.

this too shall pass
