Yes - and all of thise is generated primarily by black people towards other black people. The record is clear on what most whites have thought of black beauty throughout history. Not much has changed there and there certainly isnt anything blacks need to do about that. But dont they have to learn to love themselves?

Sure they have to. At the same time, those within their group, men and women, who are "highly critical" of one another, need to stop the attacks on their own people and stop telling one another what the acceptable, standards of beauty according to "society" is. During the 70s, there was much more unity and embracing of the various black cultures.

Not like you see today, where many within our group are assisting in the degradation of one another by cutting each other down verbally. I see this happening in other cultures as well (East Indians, Hispanics, Asians, etc.). We also have to learn that we are not all the same. We don't like the same things or do the same things, just because we're from a specific group. We have various cultures/ethnic groups within, who practice different religious beliefs, as well as, live different lifestyles.

Prince dated Nona Gaye. Is she light skinned? I fairly certain she is black.

See my reply#236 but my point is I think Prince and most Black men in Hollywood are Whitewashed and only cares about the $. They can all love who and what they want but I don't listen to their preaching.

This is one thing that drives me batshit crazy. Does Prince really think we believe that, at no time between 1977 and 1993, he was ever made aware of exactly what those contracts said? That he wasn't told explicitly that Warner Brothers was buying his work from him - masters, rights and all? I mean...seriously, dude?

He thinks saying what he does makes WB look evil...when all it really does is make him look stupid.

That's been a sticking point with me for years and makes his entire campaign to make WB look evil look ridiculous. That last contract he signed with WB in the early 90's was MASSIVE. They even made him a VP as a vanity title. And instead of negotiating control over his catalog, he took the money and ran. It wasn't until after he'd blown that enormous check on bullshit like Carmen Electra and dozens of videos that wouldn't be released (hell, even some of the songs didn't get released), that he THEN starts pissing and moaning about how evil WB were and how important it was to own your masters and how he's their slave. Meanwhile, at the same time Prince was blowing through that wad of cash he asked for, big name acts like REM, Metallica, U2 and others, were taking pay cuts on new contracts for those exact same rights to their older work.

I guess that's what you get for firing your manager, agent, and lawyers right before contract negotiations and you've only got your eyes on one thing: $$$$$$$$$.

He didn't exactly get the reported $100 mil up front. He had to sell so many albums to get any $. The symbol album was the first to be released under the new contract and it did not do that well, so I'm assuming he didn't get that much $ from WB and that's what started the war.

My favorite pic in the issue. Funny how he revisited that shot. There was a photo like that in the SOTT tour book with Jeff Katz's reflectiion in the heart shaped mirror. Dude isn't that bad. There's another pic of him on page 14 at the top. He was Prince's photographer of choice, or so it says.

On a side note, those are the same boots Prince wore at the last concert at Paisley Park in Oct 2009.

Umm, ok: Including the defense team, witnesses for the defense, and all posters who agreed with any notion of defense in this thread, I've counted 16 individuals = 16 votes.

Including the prosecution team, witnesses for the prosecution, and all posters who agreed with any notion of prosecution in this thread, I've counted 21 individuals = 21 votes.

There were several neutral/indifferent posts and posts that did not pertain to the debate that I did not count.

Sooooo, Prince is found to be "guilty?" lol I don't know what to call the "charge(s)," lol. It's your call babynoz, lol.

I like that he sent for & relocated his good friends Larry & Tina Graham to Minneapolis. To be close to him. I wish i had a friend that would do that for me. I like how Prince is very loyal to his inner circle. I love the closeness he shares with Larry. They seem to have a real tight bond to eachother.

I remember reading that in the article, how he asked Larry and Tina if they could move to Minneapolis. It's obvious he values their friendship.

Wonder if Prince would have relocated away from MN if Larry had asked him? I doubt it.

Yet isn't that the true value of friendship: equality and respect for each other - do unto others etc...?

In 31 years of listening to Prince's music, I have never ever seen a black woman on his arm. So, I will stand by what I said. I believe what I see and what I hear someone say with my own ears.

Now, as I said, he can date whomever he chooses to. It just strikes me as a bit contradictory, hypocritical and strange to ME that I have never seen him with a black woman considering all the faux-Black Panther, say it loud, I'm black and I'm proud BS he's spouted over the last 10 years or so.

This is solely my opinion and since no one here knows with 100% certainty, any responses to my posts are also opinion.

And I think his main concern is about the dollars and not the art.

It is apparent to me that he is not attracted to black women. This is my opinion. I probably wil never know why he doesn't date us. It just makes me giggle my ass off to hear him spouting some of the BS he spouts like he just discovered he was baclk or like he just discovered the record industry was fucked up.

He and others have more than enough money to start an all-black record company if that's what they want to do. I think it's easier in this case to find someone else to blame.

Nona Gaye would disagree with you. And Prince had her F***ing him For Tracks on one occasion when they dated. lol

If Prince was NEVER attracted to black women at all, then why the hell would he allow Nona Gaye, Troy Beyer, & (especially) Cat to be close to him at all?!?

Are you for real? Dating someone and working with them are two entirely different things.

And it's okay if dude is not attracted to black women. He is entitled to his preferences.

If only he lived by his own words.

Spinlight I have followed Prince's career for over 20 years. I love and respect the man however I must agree with you. Prince needs to focus on getting his own house in order instead of telling people how to clean up their house. He seems excited to finally be learning Black history in America, religion, independence, and love but I don't feel he's graduated to the place where he should tell people what they should believe and do it their lives. If Prince doesn't want people to tell him how he should live his life and what he should believe, why does he think people want him to do the same? I doubt Prince is a saint. I think like the rest of us he has more growing up to do. I like to think his intentions are good but he's jaded by his loving society.

Onthereal I agree with you 100% with your post. To piggyback on your post Prince and Larry needs to read The Word again!!! God is called many different names in The Word. How and why would he ask that question? Just because somebody else calls God a different name does not mean he or she is talking to a different God! He has many different names! Duh!
