Copyright Infringement?

For the past year or so I've been working on a story. It's a sci fi story with various races, species, etc. One group of people are called the Apollonians and they control a section of planets. There are seven planets in their system and I make no reference to any of the planets except for...you guessed it...Apollonia 6, the pleasure planet. This is not the main focus of the story and I wont bore you with all the details, but the main characters make a visit to Apollonia 6 and...whatever.

Is that copyright infringement? Would it work if I called it Apollonia VI?

There is also a city called Hundalaseliah.

Is Prince coming after me?

Funny, but no. biggrin

I know I'm opening myself up to ridicule with this one, but believe me...this story is not about Prince at all...I just put little references from all of my favorite things throughout the story.

So go on y'all...rip me apart.

I just hope someone can give me some solid info.

I think if Prince can use all those references from the movie Barbarella, then you could use Prince references. I could be wrong, though.

Prince copyrighted "6". Three times.

If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

There doesn't appear to be any trademarks with the name "Apollonia" live in the US database.

That doesn't mean you won't get any hassle but it doesn't seem at first glance that Prince owns the name.

Oh hang on, you could be in trouble if you call one of your planets "APOLLONIA DENTAL CENTERS THE DIFFERENCE IS OBVIOUS"

AND it covers one of these subjects

02.03.24 - Women, stylized, including women depicted in caricature form
14.11.01 - Keys with heads of circular, oval or lobed shape
26.01.02 - Circles, plain single line; Plain single line circles
26.11.21 - Rectangles that are completely or partially shaded
26.17.02 - Bands, wavy; Bars, wavy; Lines, wavy; Wavy line(s), band(s) or bar(s)
