Presents for Prince

Has anyone ever sent a Present to Prince and got a reply from him?

Prince received no flak for the sand dollar incident - except from Oceana who offered it.

Same with Divinity6 and her CD gift:

An obsessive female fan decided to take a sand dollar to a concert and offer it as a gift to Prince.

It broke.

The fam came on here and cried: 'Prince broke my sand dollar'.

What made me ask the question was, i work at a Nursery and a few of the two year olds did some birthday cards to the Queen and sent them to Buckingham Palace. Her birthday is June 11th or 12th but sent them early because we thought it would take ages to get to her. But we got a thank you letter back from the Queen not long after. Anyway thats why i wonderd if anyone had got a letter back from Prince. [Edited 5/30/10 11:41am]

Prince has said before that he doesn't like presents. He didn't say why, but I would presume it's a control thing. The giver of a present has the upper hand. Just my twocents...that's how I psychoanalyze P

One of the security guards at a show told me that all the stuff- teddy bears, roses, etc.- get put in the dumpster out back as they're leaving. Prince doesn't take that stuff with him. shrug

I wish that thread was still available. Facinating stuff.

If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

I saw a program about the Queen on PBS where it showed a team of women whose jobs are to answer the Queen's mail. There were bags and bags of it, and they sat and opened every one and replied to certain things.

In the early nineties I sent to Prince an album of Corto Maltese, the romantic hero and character of comics series created by italian comic book creator Hugo Pratt. Never got a reply.

I just don't understand sending gifts to famous people. I mean...does it make you feel like you know them or they're going to somehow know you if you do?

It's silly.

Oh come on... you never felt like sitting down and making an instrument out of an old quilt and sending it to your favorite artist? biggrin

I sent him a birthday wish in a glass covered by my jizz. He wrote a song about it - Underneath The Cream.
