Hey this are video stills, where are they come from?
true... where are these from?
They're from a documentary on Prince called Omnibus from '91. Quite a lot of back stage footage frm the lovesexy era.

Can this Omnibus documentary be viewed, or purchased?

I don't know about Omnibus but look up Prince of Paisley Park, it's showed on TV sometimes, it was 100% focused on the Lovesexy era, aftershow clips, studio clips, pre rehearsals show clips, band interviews etc etc

Cuz I'll slap your ass into the middle of next week
I'm sorry baby, that's the rules

I pay the rent in this raggedy motherfucker
And all u do is suck up food and heat
Say what? Oh yeah?
4 someone who can't stand them T.V. dinners
U sure eat enought of them motherfuckers
Who bought u that diamond ring?
Yeah, right.
Since when did u have a job?
U seeing that rich motherfucker again
What's his name? Bob?
Bob, ain't that a bitch?
What's he do for a living?
Manage rock stars?
Who?
Prince?
Ain't that a bitch?
That skinny motherfucker with the high voice?
Please, who do I look like baby?
Yesterday's fool?
Don't u know I will kill u now?
U're fuckin' right.
I gotta gun
U think I don't?
Then what's this?
Oh, u quiet now
uh uh!
Little? Yeah, right. It might be little but it's loud

Yeah, right.
Uh uh!

Now put that suitcase down
And go in there
And put on that wig I bought U
No, No
No, No
The reddish-brown one
Bob, ain't that a bitch?
Oh
Gotcha
Got ya

Hey Bob, if u're out there, let me see u dance
U said u was funky
C'mon, c'mon

Ain't that a bitch?
Bob

(Come out with your hands up)
I'll kick your ass (This is your last warning)
Think I won't? (Oh no! The nigger's got a laser)
(Let's get the hell out of here)

Is Mr. George home?
Hello, Mr. George? {Note: The high pitched voice}
This is your conscience, motherfucker {that responds to his call, when}
Why don't u leave motherfuckers alone? {slowed down to about 2 rpm,says}
What's wrong with u? {"Operator, what city please?"}
Well, why can't we just dance?
Why can't we just dance?
No, fuck that, fuck that
I don't talk about u, I don't talk about u
Wit' yo' little almond-shaped head ass
Who the fuck do u think this is?
I'll kick your ass... twice

Bob, if u're out there
Let me see u dance
U said u were funky, c'mon

B-O-B, spell the shit backwards, what'd it say
Same motherfuckin' shit

Turn it out

Bob, ain't that a bitch?

the album features one of the most shockingly unusual Prince songs: "Bob George," in which he assumes the identity of a cursing, gun-wielding alter ego who murders a woman and dismisses the figure of Prince as "that skinny motherfucker with the high voice" (later used as the title of an album of lo-fi Prince covers by Dump). Bob George was performed on the Lovesexy tour.

The track is a direct answer to music critic Nelson George, who was very critical of Prince's music in the mid-1980s.[ "Bob George" features a growling monologue that is slowed down to the point of being almost unrecognizable as Prince. Some[who?] interpret the track as a commentary on the glorification of violence and misogyny inherent in the gangsta rap musical genre, which was in its infancy at the time. The voice at the end of the song that says "bizarre" is actually a stock sound from the Fairlight CMI IIx library, pitched up.

Or best, depending on who you ask. They're over the top and in your face and technicolor, but so was the music and the climate of the late 80's. I think everything about Lovesexy is pitch perfect. One of the last times, and the best for that matter, that he created a complete universe where the music, the message, the philosophy, the sound, the fashion, the tour, the photography, the singles, the remixes, the b-sides, the band, the instruments, the mythology were all working together perfectly.

I'm late in reading through this thread (FANTASTIC PHOTOS here! Thank you to everybody who has posted pics! They all brought back so many wonderful memories of the music and that time in Prince's history, and of my life during that time..) but I had to comment on this post..

I think it's probably the most eloquently put descriptions of the Lovesexy era I've ever read, and I agree wholeheartedly with your assessment.

Great, great post, Tron. clapping

Wow, I knew Wendy & Lisa still stayed in touch with Prince a few years after 1986 Never read this one before. Never saw the pic either
I have been to many, many, many Prince shows, but this is the one that I would have died to have been at. It was held in the Paisley Park parking lot under a huge white tent. Wendy, Lisa, Susannah, Jill Jones, Mavis...heaven! There was a news clip from MTV floating around online not long ago, and they were interviewing people going in to the party. I'm sure it was filmed...if only!!!

Some friends and I were immediately outside the Paisley Park gates that night along with appoximately a couple hundred other hopeful gatecrasher types (my friends and I were all around 20 years old at that time, and we still attempted stuff like that lol) and I can remember hearing music from inside that tent and wishing so badly I could get inside.

The other thing I remember is the security guard telling everyone going inside the gates (or that was trying to!) that he needed to see their 'Purple Heart' pass before they would be allowed in.

The blood real good if U drink it real fast
But the aftertaste just lasts and lasts
So if U kiss somebody, U wanna party all night (Alright!)

Superfunkycalifragisexy, oh! Ahh! {x2}

See, if U do 2 much, your skin'll be sensitive 2 the touch
The first person that touch U, U wanna fuck
U take 'em 2 your crib and U tie 'em 2 a chair
And U make funny faces till they get real scared
Then U turn on the neon, then U play with yourself
Till U turn 'em on

This chair goes round and round
I feel like a clown cuz I'm stripped down
It's all fun and games till the very next day
Till, damn, U don't remember my name
Maybe I'll see U next Thursday night
Maybe I won't, but that's alright
Cuz in my possession there's a signed confession that says
I was the best U'd ever had
2 bad (Ow!)

This beat is on time
Refined designed 2 make U do the do
Superfunkycalifragisexy, oh! Ahh! {x2}

Baby, keep the blood flowin' down 2 your feet
Brother Maurice'll be 'round in a minute

I'm surprised no one brings up the other hidden message in the "Alphabet St." video as much as they bring up the Black Album reference. There's a part right after his little guitar solo on top of the car, and the screen flashes a few times. The words "GOD I LOVE U" flash through the screen. It was the first thing I noticed about the video back then, before I ever found the Black Album reference.

LoveSexy is tied with SOTT, for me, for best album he's ever done. Both are completely different and showcase very different sides to him, I think.

Not so much a fan of the Black Album. Felt like a boring demo version of LoveSexy given their similar sounds in some aspects. I do love the shit out of "Rockhard" and "Le Grind" though.
