Why thanks for that. I wasn't familiar with slang. I'm taking the piss of course. Joint is what one smokes or roasts. Shit is faeces or not good. If I were to say your joint tasted shit it wouldn't be a compliment.

I'd always been in and out of Prince (so to speak) since ATWIAD but what locked me in was Gett Off...for the reason it changed/saved my life as I've stated before.

Not the most cool song or era in Princes career I know...but it's what it is

lagantest

I remember first hearing prince back in 2003. there was an advert on continually showing the greatest hits package/the b-sides. And it showed loads of his greatest songs, and I was singing along to them on the ad for a few weeks and I thought I know all these songs. But never realise who it was really. So I went out and bought the cd. A month later I had bought every other prince album including online stuff and rare songs and now I am a massive fan. Just goes to show really.

Not necessarily the first Prince song you heard, but the one that grabbed you and wouldn't let you go.

For me, it was "Let's Pretend We're Married."

The last little section, "I want to fuck the taste out of your mouth," was the epiphany.

Y'all?

Lets go crazy hooked me...before this i thought Prince and the revolution was a band name...a singer called Prince hmm

first song heard (and remembered...controversy)

razz Now I gotta sit and think. Now before I knew whom exactly Prince was, the song Scandalous comes to mind. It was 1989, I was a kiddo with a missing tooth and my dad was taking me to the movies to see the latest Batman flick.

Now if you wanna know the song that got me hooked once my "Prince sense" finally woke up in '99, then that would have to be When Doves Cry. Honestly, I really can't remember beyond '89.

Me, too. It was a song like nothing else that was on the radio at the time. And when I saw his picture for the first time eek (the Jet Magazine picture), that only sealed the deal.

For me it was Let's Go Crazy.

Mine was Let's Go Crazy also. The opening line: "Dearly beloved..." was a real attention grabber when I 1st heard it on radio. And the guitar solo was really orgasmic! Yeah, I was a really impressed 14-year-old back then eek Up to that point, MJ was my #1 favorite artist.

It was 1981-ish. I was 11 years old...the song was "Controversy" and I was like..."What is this?"

I've been hooked since!

though i heard Prince in '82, and experienced the PR hype..it truly was not until 87 that I became "hooked." It started in 86 with Parade, but SOTT was when it occured...and I cannot choose one song, but it's a toss up between

IT
Play in the Sunshine and
Housequake

The song that got me interested was Raspberry Beret. After that I got into him but he was one of a few artist I really liked. It was after getting a copy of The Black album in October 1989 I went prince crazy, getting hold of 12 inches other outtakes associated artists.

"When Doves Cry". When I first heard it it literally stopped me in my tracks - it sounded incredible and I just had to hear it. I bought the "Purple Rain" album as soon as I could after that.

The last Prince song to have a similar effect was probably "She Gave Me Angels", which wasn't doing anything for me at all until the guitar kicked in, at which point I just stopped and stared at the stereo until it had finished, then flipped back to the start.
