Prince doesnt have a lot of sad or emotional songs that could be considered a universal fit for he words Billy spoke in Purple Rain still ring true to this day..."Your music makes sense to noone...but yourself".
Yea..he has some moving songs...Sometimes it Snows in April is good, but to detailed to fit anyone else. And the list goes on.
About the only I can think of that could fit most people is Come back.
You dont really have to believe in reincarnation to buy into this song.
It could be about the spirit staying with a loved one, or just always feeling that person in their heart even though they have passed away.
So in short, my vote is for Comeback. Not only because I like it, but also because its about the only one that can fit just about anyone that has lost a loved one.

In the end Purple Rain was played-I know it may seem too obvious but it really worked . It had a sombre and epic sound and would be appreciated more by the general congregation

Cheers for the suggestions

Last December

Yeah, Last December.

I think his version of A Case Of U would be a nice song to hear.
His vocals are very moving and the piano is nice too.

Fuck the funk - it's time to ditch the worn-out Vegas horns fills, pick up the geee-tar and finally ROCK THE MUTHA-FUCKER!! He hinted at this on Chaos, now it's time to step up and fully DELIVER!!
woot!

Good choice I suppose. It remains a classic. And....you're welcome.

"Love, Thy Will Be Done"... Martika version. Prince's music with Martika's vocal. Very nice.

I played it at my mom's funeral.

Also, "Blood Is Thicker Than Time" by Mavis Staples... Same criteria as above.

So did I. We just used the Prince version, on her specific request. It's Very suitable in some instances...
