"If You Build It, They Will Come..."

All of this hubris and anger over P's recent activities (or non-activities LOL) puts me in mind of past faux pas of Prince which initiated a Cause & Effect similar to someone poking a stick into a wasps' nest and then the end result being angry stings of the wasp seeking to defend the nest. P has survived past events similar to this. He has actually been motivated in reaction to produce some great music. I do not like the dilemma he is in--but, based on past experiences, do you think this will stimulate him to produce good new music (using language cautiously here!) and do an in-residency series of concerts here in the old U.S. of A? As the over-quoted saying from "Field of Dreams" goes--"If you build it, they will come." And many of us will! I am advocating for a local series of engagements in a venue in Minneapolis--it will help pay the bills, stimulate the local economy, Prince wouldn't have to travel, and it would provide a chance for American fans to see him state-side. A win-win proposition IMO! So, if P "builds it," will you come? hmmm

But the question is not only about "they"...the question is--will you come? (Besides any extraneous activities you mentioned). lol

Excellent question and thread (from my point of view) this is the kind of conversation or thread start that should spark for interesting conversation. I would think that yes, this would make for a good time for a good album, some great show performances on Jay Leno and Ellen. A residency concerns me because based on our economy would the residency have staying power? Where would be the opportune venue for it to be. Personally speaking, Family Jamm III or is it IV would be a great start for Prince. I went to last years Family Jamm at the Cabooze in Mpls and it was something to remember. Only if Prince, Wendy & Lisa showed.
Peace ... & Stay Funky ...

Thanks-the question just occurred to me as I was reading about all these financial woes. I just added to my original post that it would be a great idea for Prince to perform an in-residency series of concerts in Minneapolis--it would benefit the local economy, help pay bills, he wouldn't have to go anywhere to travel, and fans who really want to see him state-side could have a chance to. It sounds like a win-win situation to me! cool

That's a good one.
I wouldn't fly to the US though to see Prince. I would wait for him to come to EU.

By the same token, I can't afford to fly to Europe to see P. He performed in Europe last year; it is our turn in the U.S. to see P. If he performed in Minneapolis, American fans could afford to go to the concerts, and he wouldn't have to travel. I think this is a great idea, and I hope someone in P's camp thinks so also. Just sayin'... wink

That would be great...and I would love to go to London and see the sights while I attend a P concert there, but the dollar is so weak right now, it isn't in my budget. I think P would be smart to do a local in-residency concert which would benefit him and his fans locally... Plus, I notice, in my city at least, a lot of Europeans are taking advantage of the weak dollar to come visit here like they haven't in a very long time...! cool

I could afford to fly but I wouldn't do it just to see Prince. There are many more other lovely things I would pay to see/do.

But you're right. It's good for Americans and I think as Prince ages, he will surely prefer travelling less. Good luck, I hope you get to see him!
