I get that purple is the color of royalty and his name is Prince, but really what is the meaning or purpose of my man's use of the word "purple?"

I started looking through my purple music collection and found at least 15 songs that reference something purple and often times the purple object makes no sense or relavance to the content of the song (imo). I'm talking about the purple banana in Lets Go Crazy, the purple ladder in Around the World in a Day, and the purple electricity in Temptation...to name a few.

I'd love to hear your purple opinions about the significance that P associates with the word/color. And I'd love to hear what other songs you know of that use the word purple. (My music collection consists mostly of official releases, so I'm sure there are move than 15 purple songs!)

I'm sure this has been a topic of discussion in the past, but you try searching the archives using the key word "purple!"

Purple Bananas...anyone?

I always thought the "purple banana" lyric made sense. The song is "Let's Go Crazy" and he says "Let's look for the purple banana 'til they put us in the truck." Purple bananas don't exist, so only a crazy person would look for one. Hence, let's go crazy, let's get nuts.

Though it (probably) hasn't been mentioned as much as the word/colour Purple, it has been a fair few number of times.
